So, I confiscated a student's laptop...

I am a 9th grade English teacher. One of my students decided that the middle of class was a good time to be playing games. Being the good teacher that I am, I want my students to pay attention, respect all people including their teachers, and most of all learn. I did what I believed to be in the best interest of my student. I confiscated his laptop to remove any distractions he may have had during class time. I am paid to give these children a proper education after all and language, especially English, is important to learn. Language allows us to communicate our thoughts, feelings, and experiences so we can better understand each other. English is also the third most used language in the world. As I was saying, I confiscated his laptop and he starts throwing a tantrum so i had to take him out to the hall. He yelled something along the lines of "didn't your mum ever teach you not to touch other people's stuff?" And a few other things. Needless to say, I was shocked by his rude comments. I informed him of his inappropriate behavior and asked for an apology. He seemed to keep up the hostile attitude so I sent him to the principal and kept his laptop until class end. What do you think offtopic, did I do the right thing? Original thread: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/209363254 Edit: fact checked by GoFund and several others
