Sniper rifles should NOT be nerfed because…

…there would be no more sniper montages, people! I mean, can you [i]imagine[/i]: you hop-on and scroll down through all of the blah, blah, blah of the TWaB, only to find the Movie of the Week section devoid of sniper montages? Oh, [i]the horror[/i]. [spoiler]Kidding. Nerf sniper rifles. Remove all short-range optics, and increase flinch when body-shot and complete de-scope when headshot. And for the record: I really enjoy a lot of the sniper montages. Many of them highlight true skill both with the gun type and in video editing. However, even the best sniper montages have cheap-ass kills in equal or greater measure to skill kills. Wonder how the montage guys would do without short-range optics, and with increased flinch and critical hit de-scope. Skilled snipers would still get their kills, perhaps just not as many that are montage-worthy. And therein lies the rub, eh? Bungie knows that nerfing sniper rifles would result in streamers throwing hissy fits; which in turn would result in streamer-followers throwing hissy fits…and that’s just too much hissy for Bungie to handle.       • I think the main problem is primaries have been utterly destroyed so people result in the next best thing.... Snipers. Primaries need (repeat) need a faster TTK. CryNerfers need to be silenced, now they're trying to Nerf shoulder charge and the bubble... Pathetic really.

                      • So basically you want people to use snipers that are terrible so that they cant kill you right? Well let me tell you if snipers are nerfed I imagine that people will use shotguns and fusion rifles and they will become very good at using them...then later down this road you will say "Hey!!! Shotguns (or) Fusion rifles are too strong and need to be nerfed because...blah..blah..blah..I die to much to them!" You posted this because you wanted your opinion to be heard right but you aren't the only one with an opinion. My opinion is that maybe you should learn how a sniper plays the game and then maybe you'll more easily be able to counter them with whatever strategies you see fit. Everyone wants to play the game the way they want to play so I don't see why you should punish them for that.

                          Sorry but I've been playing sniper rifles in FPS for over 6 years, of course I'm going to be able to use them in most circumstances. Instead of complaining about shit that isn't a problem, how about you improve? Or call for a buff to primaries so they can actually fight special weapons? Instead of trying to ruin yet another weapon class. You people will never be happy, if snipers get nerfed again then you'll complain about shotguns, then snipers, then shotguns, then snipers, so how about you just shut the f**k up until you have some sort of idea what you're talking about. Actually you know what I've read your other replies, you're far too up your own ass to see from any other point of view and think you know better than everyone else, so I'm just going to mute you. Nothing but another asshole not worth my time trying to argue with.

                              I'll say it again, in 6's snipers are just fine; there's so much chaos that snipers cannot lock down an area for an extended duration, unless they are [u]very[/u] skilled at using their sniper, radar, primary, and abilities to stay alive. Even so, eventually a nova bomb or FoH will get em'. In 3's, secondary weapons [i]are and feel like[/i] power weapons. Ammo should be scarce, both in the number of crates and the amount received from the crate. One crate each side would be ideal, with possibly a 3rd to contest. That way, when special is arriving you can decide to make a push or grab all 3. This would encourage map control, communication, and smart super play. As of right now, it's not just that snipers are strong; it's that it's so damn easy to have ammo the [i]entire[/i] match. I start a game with 12 rounds, and picking up crates is a cakewalk. [b]I know they have nerfed ammo in the past[/b] but all they did was force people to lay low for the first minute of a game then it was back to normal. Zero Special at Start. Special Crates pop up every 2 minutes. (10 minute match, you'll get 4 special spawns 2, 4, 6, 8 When dead, ammo does not transfer. Possibly, when you die you lose all ammo (this makes sidearms actually good) Make LL matter so we don't see Icebreaker in Trials (I know this one is a bit more on the "tough to do" list.) What this means: Yes, we'll see Invective, UR, NLB much more. Players with a sniper rifle will [i]have[/v] to play aggressive with a primary if they want ammo Faster matches, as people will be forced to PTFO, even if it's just a special crate

                                It's to the point I can't stand to look at feedback any more because of all the nerf this, nerf that posts on here. I don't particularly care to get sniped but I in good conscience can't call for a nerf on a weapon I hardly use in PvP, it would be hypocritical. I realize peoples frustration with getting quick scoped, it's like sniper rifles have no downside because they are effective at any range. As I've stated many times, Bungie can't balance something without breaking it. If snipers were to be balanced properly so there would be minimal impact to pve that would be fine (notice I said "balanced", not "nerfed"). If it's mainly the quick scoping that bothers you, maybe they should just slow the time it takes to draw and stow the rifle way down, kinda like what they did to shotguns. Descoping on crits isn't an unreasonable request either.

                                • Although I agree with you some montages just show how quick and op sniper rifes are they show excatly how quick they get into the scope and boom like a remote control he's dead heck some show one sniper holding off an entire team they are ridiculously quick to aim and so quick to kill with they are unbelievable at times. And I don't stick to the sniper lanes I am a person who goes the long way around surprises them and still gets head shot in the close to mid range cuase it is just to quick to aim it.

                                    A simple hard cut off on range would do the trick. It's the only gun that can one shot from 1 - 1,000 meters. All other guns have a fall off at greater range. Snipers should have a fall off at closer range, where they either simply miss by default or won't fire. During the last round of sniper "nerf" Bungie said it wanted snipers to be used as a long range option. That was a fail. Well.......a hard cut off would do the trick. Other than remaining streamer friendly, I'd like to hear an argument why a change like this wouldn't bring things in line. If anyone is thinking of the "what happens in real life" argument - forget about it.....nothing in this game performs as it's real life equivalent does. If you want to use Destiny snipers true to life, then I want my Destiny shotguns to perform the same way.....along with a number of other things.

                                  • All bungie has to do is remove aim assist(from all weapons)and all these so called "sniper experts" who only get kills by the high aim assist weapons would be gone, sure they will cry bloody murder on the forums for a few weeks but then all the sniper nonsense will be over. Hell, add a little scope sway in there for good measure....done and done.

                                            My personal belief is that balancing Snipers lies in creating a believable checks-and-balance system. But nothing in Special slots are even remotely in the same range category. Which is why I believe Primary buffs are the true answer. Nerfing Snipers solves nothing but forcing people who enjoy the playstyle to bandwagon Shotguns until everyone decides they're OP in light of the Sniper nerfs.

                                            • I still say that if you're going to copy the sniper mechanics of Halo, which as far as I'm concerned is [i]exactly[/i] how the snipers in Destiny feel, maybe you should treat them like they did when Bungie ran that series and make them either a heavy weapon or power weapons you have to fight to use (not including one of the best game types "Shotty Snipers" of course). Imagine actually having to fight for a good weapon on a map instead of just spawning with weapons that give you an instakill.
