No I do NOT want bungie to ban these players.. I want these players to read this and maybe begin to understand that they are personally responsible for other people getting banned..
First please let me explain how the peer-2-peer connection actually works..
While many of you wrongly believe that P2P connection always chooses the host with the best internet speeds you are vastly wrong by thinking so..
Peer-2-Peer multiplayer gaming more often than not will choose the host based on their proximity to other players..
Thus it will choose the central player in the region..This is done in order to provide the lowest possible PING between the host and all other players in the game..
For example lets say that there are 12 players in a Crucible match. 5 of those players are on the West coast of the United States..6 of those players are on the East coast of the Unted States. and there is 1 player in Kansas..
The system will choose the player in Kansas as the host of this game because of his location in regards to the rest of the players in the game.. This happens because the player in Kansas will have the lowest PING to all of the other players.
If the system chose one of the players from the East coast the ping to the west coast players would be very lopsided and unfair when it comes to latency..
Now let me explain how players with Faster Internet speeds will see other players lag more often..
The Average Online gamer has less than 25 megs upload and 6 megs download speeds.. However EVERYONE that has higher speeds will always see these players as being laggy... YOUR higher speeds are at fault NOT theirs.. Your higher speed does not mean that they are lagging.. it simply means that they are a few miliseconds behind you..
However more often than not YOU will get frustrated and come to these forums and cry foul... Then Bungie begins to ban players that have done nothing wrong other than not have speeds equal to yours..
Stop being elitist.. this kind of thinking is a cancer that destroys gaming at its core.
Edit:: For all of you that still attempt to discredit my knowledge please refer to the following link.. http://www.gamespot.com/forums/system-wars-314159282/networks-peer-to-peer-servers-vs-client-servers-26276019/
Peer-2-Peer matchmaking will ALWAYS try to use the host with the lowest PING to all other clients.. end of the discussion on this subject... take your arguements to the contrary to someone less knowledgable... thanks
Furthermore. if I am so wrong in my knowledge then please explain why everyone of you keep telling other players to get faster internet? hmmmm?

I love it when some one who knows nothing about networking try's to make sense of how it works. Add in to this not setting up your home network right, lower reliability in connection quality in some areas, peek and off peek usage in a area, buffer bloat, packet loss, and cheep home routers just adds more lag. A decaited host p2p system (one where the host of the game has the power to "correct" for lag) is better. But, also has it's own disadvantages (like the host having a advantage over people in the game). Look at COD setup for this example.

Where can you check this?

I have 100 down 30 up ..so I'm good

3 RepliesSuggestion. Don't use GameStop and a 8 year old document as your backup... Just saying. Again trying to help you out.... 😂

If somebody is red barred constantly it's not my high bandwidth that they can't keep up with. It's the base threshold of the lobby they're not keeping up with and just as there's a minimum limit there's also a max. Also a couple milliseconds won't cause teleporting. I find that most people that red bar all the time don't have their routers configured properly which IS their fault. It's not elitist to want to play a game without somebody skipping around all the time. It's common sense.

2 Replies"However more often than not YOU will get frustrated and come to these forums and cry foul... Then Bungie begins to ban players that have done nothing wrong other than not have speeds equal to yours" From everything posted by Bungie, player in game reports may lead to an "investigation". These reports do not lead to a "ban". Bungie has advised that they have methods to determine player "lag" and act accordingly.

I just report everybody as having bad connection whether they do or not.

Now explain how all servers should work in 2016

10 RepliesI play connected Wirelessly to a Verizon MiFi broadband cellular connection. I rarely if ever go Redbar. If I feel something is wrong I reboot the MiFi and I'm good to go. That doesn't happen that often. So frankly anyone's argument about playing on wireless is garbage. It's Infrastructure that matters. Verizon's infrastructure is solid enough that even on a cellular broadband connection there's no lag.
...YOUR higher speeds are at fault NOT theirs.. Your higher speed does not mean that they are lagging.. it simply means that they are a few miliseconds behind you..
Uhh...couldn't you also say that since they are a few milliseconds (you spelled it wrong BTW) behind that it IS their fault? There's no concrete logic there.

Wow this is the worst explanation of network, peer to peer and online gaming I've seen for some time. There are players playing Destiny who can't even get 1Mbps download speed. If that's the case forget about the same for upload speed. There are also players who can get achieve 1Mbps up but have terrible ping because of their location. For example a rural zone where the whole area is operating on some backwater technology like a microwave link that chokes during peak times. There are also players (kids and technologically unknowing) who have connections that are being used on multiple devices and multiple tasks as once. In this case it's like putting two elephants on top of a Ferrari. THESE are what is causing red bar laggers more often than not. To top it all off Destiny's netcode is crap and places requirements on players that is unrealistic. Dedicated servers should have been in place (at the very least) for raids, iron banner and trials.
-
Or maybe people should be demanding dedicated servers uncharted 4 has them and lag is rare

2 RepliesEdited by Dim: 7/6/2016 11:58:42 PMI hate to break it to the OP, but you are wrong about 90% of the technical aspects within your post. I won't get into a pissing match about nerdy networking talk, but please do educate yourself more before making similar posts. It's in your own best interest. Edit: I don't know what "mgps" is, but you keep saying it... it's Mbps, as in megabits per second. If anyone believes your very inaccurate interpretation of how P2P gaming works then I feel bad for them. The only ban that needs to happen is Bungie banning their P2P architecture, and moving to dedicated servers via a large CDN.

Edited by catrodsan: 7/7/2016 12:32:06 AMThe serial complainer strikes again. This guy who claims to have education regarding Internet Networking and Civil Contract Law... I haven't seen "many" people saying that the host is the fastest Internet. Buy this guy likes to make a big deal out of everything. Note that the article you linked is 8 years old. So while the basic stays the same, the technology hasn't. There has been advancements in hardware and software that has made P2P a viable, not ideal, but viable, way to play. No one believe this guy. He claims to be an expert with everything he's complained about.

28 RepliesI play on 100mgps down 25 up and I say -blam!- everyone else I pay for good Internet I shouldn't have my gaming experience ruined by walfare family's
-
It's Bungies bad for not having dedicated servers. They have P2P then blame the players. Smh.
-
Edited by AlamoCity: 7/6/2016 11:45:02 PMNope. I pay for great high-speed Internet. So I'll continue with it. Other's Internet speeds are not my problem or the other way around.

2 RepliesSo you want me to lower my 1gb down and 1gb up because of other people? 😹 God. Please stop. Really please. My sides are hurting. You sir/mam get funnier by the day. Where do we put the tips for your comedy act?
-
4 RepliesWell this is a first. Banning good connections.
-
How about bungie just invests 0.0037% of the money we've thrown at the screen and buy some dedicated servers.....then no one needs to get banned.
-
9 RepliesEdited by Kone19ps: 7/6/2016 10:31:33 PMBungie requires repeat offenses of an unsustainable or manipulated connection to ban of less than around 3mbs down and 1mbs up dedicated to the console. Ping from region is a different story and will require stronger connection speeds to cross region with minimal latency. Any less you are responsible for what happens. Buyer beware. We all knew there wouldn't be dedicated servers. We agreed to the risks. Bungie will optimize the experience for the max amount of people. I sympathize but do not remove blame for people and their connections. Especially if they haven't been bothered to get off wifi and set up a static IP. We all should campaign for dedicated servers but until then buying the game doesn't entitle you to drag down the experience of others. If you have less than these requirements and your provider is claiming broadband then your provider is lying. Cries here will not affect their bans besides enforcing them more where they should have been to start.
