Noob question for people who play Xbox one on a monitor and use gaming headphones

I always played Xbox on a TV and never used a monitor or gaming headphones. I want to move my Xbox one out of the living room and buy a gaming monitor and gaming headphones. My question: Are an Xbox one, monitor and gaming headphones (and of course cables and connection to internet) everything I need in order to make this work? I heard stories that you need a 5.1 stereo amplifier in order to make sound work on the Xbox one. I don’t know if that’s true or not (hope not). But before I go and buy a gaming monitor and gaming headphones I want to know for sure that it will work. If I need a 5.1 stereo amplifier I want to know that beforehand and what better than to ask the people who use it? Thanks for any help! (I was btw thinking of buying the BenQ RL2455HM gaming monitor and the standard Xbox One Stereo Headset.) EDIT: Holy shit, thanks everyone for all the replies! I wasn’t getting any notifications on my phone so I thought nobody cared to help. When I logged in to Bungie.net I saw 15+ replies. Thanks for the help!

  • I have the benq ht. Pretty much the same thing. It made a huge difference switching from a tv to that.

I use a monitor with a vga/hdmi converter and I use my normal mic that plugs in my elite controller. Personally I'm about to sink $1400 on a pc that's gonna be wack yo! I may end up getting some new accessories as well such as a new headset and some new speakers

  • I play with Astro A40s. You do not need anything extra if you use a headset that either includes a mixamp or one that directly plugs into the controller via the "new" 3.5mm jack.

  • You don't even need a headset, as long as you have an adapter you can plug in pretty much every type of basic headphones (This is ofcourse if you don't want a mic)

Not used a monitor but headsets will really improve your gaming experience, I just got a base model wired turtle beach set since I got mine. Wireless are better but either would be better than playing through your t.v speakers or monitor speakers if they have them.

    • Here's what you need: A solid 1080p, low latency (5ms or less) monitor with a quality panel. A pair of headphones made for XB1. (I use Turtle Beach 420x. They're fully wireless and have decent quality). You should check out those, Turtle Beach 500X/800X, Astro A40/A50 or just research a bunch of different ones. I think certain headphones include an amp. If they don't include one, you DON'T need it.

    • Get the X0 seven turtle beaches. They are comfortable and sound great. Also it's directional so it's handy for fps's when people are trying to sneak up on you. As far as a monitor is concerned, you'll probably want a 27 or a 32 with 120 hz refresh rate or higher.

      • Bro just get a monitor. Make sure it has an hdmi cable option if not u can get an adapter for the monitor. Then you just get normal cheap earbuds like the iphone ones. Connect them straight to your controller and youre ready to game. If u have the old xbox one controller you will need the headset adapter for the controller but the new ones dont need the adapter. Dont believe the hype of buying these 300 dollar headsets with optical audio and shit. The normal Stereo sound is the same shit. Like the difference is so minute.

Try and make sure you get a 4k monitor, 4k is soon going to become the norm for console gaming and it will ensure you don't have to buy another soon(ish). Edited for go read the news, cunts.
