Shoulder charge is a very powerful tactic that rounds out the very strong neutral game of the Striker subclass. It can be frustrating to deal with but [b]against good players it's almost always a death sentence or a one for one trade[/b]. As an OG Striker Titan I've been on both sides of this tactic and would like to share some insights into dealing with this sometimes annoying technique. [b]Use max armor[/b]. A warlock with the Ram or a Max armor Titan will survive a shoulder charge with a sliver of health. Use max armor to eliminate the one hit kills. [b]Know your opponents[/b]. If there are a number of Strikers on the other team, chances are there will be a lot of shoulder charging going on. If that's the case you'd be better off equipping a good shotgun or fusion rifle. Plan C works very well here since the plan C perk is a bit of an 'oh crap' button. A high impact shotgun used by a calm, cool and collected guardian is also lethal to all shoulder chargers. If a Titan is running at you that's what they're trying to do. Wait for them to close the distance and once they are close, fill their chest full of buck shot. Easy peasy. [b]Stop Hardscoping[/b]. If you're intent on sniping, you need to have a lethal close range weapon equipped. The Last Word comes to mind here as does something like NLB and a sidearm. If sniping is your crucible style you need to realize that staying hardscoped makes you easy prey for us shoulder charging bastards. Make sure you're popping in and out of scope to keep the radar visible. Rapidly pull in and out of scope with LT,L2. This allows you to almost see your radar and keep tabs on your surroundings. We see our top guardians use this technique all the time. [b]Equip a sticky grenade[/b]. This is one of the easiest ways to deal with shoulder chargers. When you see a Titan rushing you, stick them and collect their tears. Pretty simple stuff here. A hand cannon shot to the chest followed by a throwing knife also works wonders here (tip provided by Nistopher Colon). [b]Timing your blink, jump or shadestep[/b]. This one isn't perfect but depending on the map this can be useful as well. See a shoulder charger coming in? Make like Mother Goose and get the flock out!! Escape and re-engage when [i]you[/i] have the advantage. These are just a few of the ways that fellow guardians make my life miserable when I'm trying to shoulder charge. The key here is adapting to the situation and picking the right tool for the job. If you're getting rocked constantly while sniping you should switch to your favorite shotgun and turn shoulder chargers into easy kills for your team. Inasmuch as Destiny is balanced asymmetrically we have to look at our subclasses as a whole. Every class has strengths and weaknesses and shoulder charge is part of the strong neutral game of the striker. I hope these tips help out Warlocks and Hunters who are struggling with shoulder charge.
