So right now the Meta with Sniper Rifles and Shotguns is not great... at all.
My idea for Shotguns is reducing the range of several Shotguns such as Party Crasher, but increase the Damage overall for every Shotgun. I think that would make more sense, by not having Shotgun working like a Sniper Rifle but at the same time being a CQC Weapon.
Now the real problem, the Sniper Rifles.
So first of all, increase the Supression Effect if you shoot a Guardian who has a Sniper Rifle at the moment.
Secondly, reduce Aim Assist to 30%, no one wants to get killed by a Sniper Rifle if you run past them, it doesn't make sense being killed so easy not even really aiming to someone.
Third thing, increase the “fall off“ effect at Snipers (meaning the more far the Enemy is standing the less damage you do per Shot).
And the fourth i would suggest that every Sniper Rifle deals the same Impact, the difference is Rate of Fire, Range and Stability. Meaning high Rate of Fire is lower Stability and low Rate of Fire is higher Stability.
Thats so far with my idea and how those weapons should normally work.
Cozmo, i would actually like to see you here to actually think about this.

I like where Shotguns are. Snipers need changed in the sense that the other weapons need tweaks to make snipers what they used to be, which was viable but not overpowering.

2 RepliesReduce shotgun range more? The range sucks already, any more and they are worthless

2 RepliesThe only problems with snipers is aim assist

The problem isn't sniper nor shotguns. It's fusion fifles and sidearms. They are useless so you can't counter a shotgun
-
4 RepliesAlso why would sniper have dmg fall off ? It's a sniper its suppose to kill at long range. Have ever shot a real shot gun? Your ideal of a shot gun range is kinda wrong.

Ok not sure if this a old post but shotguns have been nerf to point that it's lower than warlock slap. But when die its show every gun the guy has equipment so its hard to say what killed you.

I think shotguns are fine, snipers need to sway more when hard scoping.

How about stop suggesting changes to the meta every time they change something it breaks something else. If you want feed back on what needs fixing in my opinion it's this shitty servers they are using. You might find with better servers the game balance fixes itself

I agree with some of this, shotguns are in a shitty place right now. It's a penalty to the guardian if he's even using it. Shotguns should handle just like any other special, they should be a compliment to melee class builds, nerf the range into the ground. There should be two archetypes, one "high rate of fire" but should have less damage, higher stability. Think of the AA-12 with less bullets. A reliable two shot kill, with one at point blank. Low rate of fire shotguns should have shit stability. Think of a blunderbuss. One large blast, with a bit to recover. Shot guns aren't heavy weapons so they shouldn't make you move slower or be slower to handle at all. If you can whip out a high powered sniper rifle what's the difference for shotguns? Nothing. Moving on to snipers, again, two archetypes would work. High rate of fire, with low impact could be seen as a "marksman rifle" high stability 2 shot body, one shot headshot. With extreme ranges having 3 shot body shot. High impact low rate of fire should be more of a long range powerful suppression weapon. Think of a bolt action Barrett. One shot head shot of course, with low stability, a penalty for missing the brains, and a body shot would deal substantial damage, but not a one shot kill. Fusion rifles, here's the tricky part, fusion rifles are a weird weapon, two archetypes would work, with maybe some wiggle room. A slow charging fusion should have high impact with a close photon grouping, with a decent amount of range, it would be a bit of a complement to say a hand cannon in maps with medium to close ranges. The close photon grouping would be good for ranged shots. The second archetype would be the faster charging rate of fire fusion. Good for a "oh shit I'm being rushed with a shotgun" type weapon. Think plan C. A fast charge rate but a more spread out Paton grouping, which would limit the range. Scoring a kill would be determined with both types by if you can land all the photons. This seems like it would be a good state for special weapons in general. Each weapons seems like it could have two archetypes to fit easy enough. Their roles obvious enough. In the beginning certain weapon types dominated because of the maps we were given. Always close quarters, not really room for reaction, this will always occur, we need settings and larger maps where weapons can feel at home in that area of the map. We don't need Bungie to try and make everyone happy with everything, everywhere.

1 ReplyShotguns have been through enough and do NOT need another nerf.

7 RepliesPeople running with shotguns around and making oneshot kills and crying about Sniper! ^^ my Opinion: shotguns Ruin the Game. A Sniper Needs aim, a shotgun Player not. My Respect Goes to sniper. At least: did bungie patch shotguns? Same Range etc as in year 1 ^^. There is no difference!
