First off, I'm prepared for the stream of "butt-hurt, git gud scrub" etc. replies and the attacks on my K/D record. I don't claim to be an all-pro PvP player, just someone who has been playing and observing what happens in the Crucible long enough to have a valid opinion. Come at me, bro.
Now to the topic:
Shotguns that kill in 1 or 2 shots at close range are NOT the problem in Iron Banner (or in Control matches generally). Nor are Titans who have an attack that kills one or two opponents per hit, cannot be aimed, runs down over time, runs out really fast when used, and is easy to see coming.
The problems are sniper rifles (no matter who's using them) and Nightstalkers.
Let me explain why I believe this.
SNIPER RIFLES
I have no problem with being killed by a shotgun user. That player is running the risk of being killed before getting into range to use his shotgun. It's a fair fight, and shotguns have terrible aim assist as far as I can tell. At the range where they're used, enemies are moving around so much that aiming isn't generally a factor anyway. It's a knife fight in a phone booth.
Snipers in Destiny, especially in a Control match, often have to do nothing but sit down over the line that enemies have to travel in order to get to a zone, put the crosshairs at head height, then wait for the aim assist to tell them to pull the trigger. 2 snipers on a map like Pantheon whose team manages to grab zone B first can simply camp and dominate the main lanes, using no skill, just positioning and twitch reflexes.
People complain about the lack of skill needed for a shotgun, but what of a sniper rifle which has 0 scope wobble? Do Guardians have the ability to infinitely hold their breath? I would not mind snipers in PvP if they had even this tiny element of realism. As it is, when you see the lens flare, it's already too late to do anything about it.
NIGHTSTALKERS
Admit it. Your super is as OP as you claim Sunbreakers' powers are. Your entire BUILD is OP. You have a grenade that blinds the enemies it doesn't kill, while turning you invisible. You have a Super that seems to last longer than the Hammer of Sol, comes out of nowhere, and is- in my humble opinion- much worse than any other super attack. The very BEST you can get is to be killed by it. Half of the time, rather than just decently killing you outright, so you can get on with respawning, it glues you in place, drains your super, drains your grenade, kills your radar, turns your world purple, and makes you a sitting duck. It makes me miss Thorn poisoning.
Even Nightstalkers' movement mode is OP. Why the hell does this subclass get an evasion move, that NO other class gets (unless the player buys the "Safe!" emote)?
And you Hunters are filling the forum with complaints about Titans, because they finally got a subclass that has a ranged Super attack.
For the record- THIS IS NOT A NERF POST. Keep your sniper rifles. Keep your Shadowshot. Have fun with them. But for the love of crap, quit complaining that the weapons and the class you DON'T use should be nerfed, while you yourself go blithely on being ridiculously powerful! Look honestly at yourself. Look at how many Hunters are running NS right now. It's almost every one you see, and for the same reason almost every Titan is a SB (Sunbreaker, not sonofabitch)- it's the most powerful subclass there is right now. There's even an exploit for it, I hear.
QUIT begging for other classes to be nerfed. They're not the problem; or, if they are, you're equally part of it.

Map design does not support many of the specter of the game.

1 ReplyThe real problem is map design. The maps encourage shotguns. And the lack of verticality in Destiny is pretty pathetic for a game where everyone either has what's essentially a Jetpack or triple jump. More verticality would lead to less shotguns being used and it would make snipers require more skill to use since the player would have to look high and low not just right down a hallway.
-
2 RepliesI admire this post. You are exactly on point with the "skill" required for a sniper rifle. You sit in one hallway, have a friend cover the other one, and wait. Then you win. Shotguns have that risk factor, and unless you have amazing range (like a warlock melee) the shotgun isn't an insta-kill. The shotgun requires skill, choosing your targets, and a steady nerve. These aren't gnashers, but the rule applies.

Lel wut. Trolling?

That's a whole lot of crying just to say that you're a titan sun breaker
-
Dude Nova warlocks can melt titan in hos
-
Lol @ you 4 B-ing fgt
-
Jesus you have some of the worst pvp stats I have seen on the forms. Although I only check people who complain about stuff to see if they have experience using it. Because I feel someone shouldn't complain /ask for nerfs until they play they use it.
-
Holy shit you're dumb.
-
Oh look, a buttmad Titan using primarily Shottys is upset about Hunters.
-
3 RepliesShotguns are the biggest problem in crucible. Period. Most of the maps are built around close to mid range battles. Too many tunnels, corridors, and alternate routes to be able to consistently stay out of shotgun range. And the chaperone is like the old felwinters with shot package. Any gun that can one shot at close range like this is a problem. Guardians can't be aggressive in this game moving through the map unless they're wielding a shotgun. It's a problem.
-
Lol @ snipers being easier than shotguns. There's a reason every scrub runs a shotgun. Easy kills. Try it for yourself.
-
*Claims to not be a nerf post* *Categorizes everything is OP*
-
Not everyone is as good as mtashed or kjhovey with a sniper. So they use it to lock down lanes. That's what it's Ment for In my eyes
-
On a map like Pantheon, it's nearly impossible to not see a sniper looking down both middle lanes. You expect a shotgun to be looking down that sight line and do work? And honestly, it's sad seeing people like you complain about sniper, because when you think about it, snipers aren't close range weapon, shotguns are. Snipers are meant to be a ranged way of killing someone, from a distance. But then there are people who use sniper rifles in all kinds of scenarios and prefer it over shotguns in close range. Don't be so narrow minded, it doesn't look good on you.

1 ReplyShotgun = Problem. Titans =/= Problem. Sunbreaker armor = Problem. Get it right.

Rofl.

Edited by Riven of a Thousand Gecs: 10/27/2015 2:12:51 PMNo no no. The problem is people who don't PTFO. People now a days don't know what control means.

3 RepliesEdited by Tomnipotent: 10/17/2015 9:52:36 PMYour argument is invalid simply because sniping has a learning curve, if you think all it takes to be a good sniper is to hardscope lane ways at head level then you'd get destroyed by other experienced snipers. Shotgunning has absolutely no skill gap or learning curve, quick scoping takes years of practise, shotgunning is something you can pick up and learn right away. As for you calling nightstalker op while immortal flaming hammer throwers are running rampant these days... that's a level of stupid i dare not approach. I dont wanna catch your idiocy.
-
If sniping is as easy as you claim then please do 5 matches with a sniper and get at least 7 headshots per game. Then I can consider you not completely retarded. P.S. the smoke is a melee energy and has a greater cool down than the grenade
-
Is it weird most of the time when I get a SS kill it's usually within shotgun range? Lol

Edited by Uriel_Slays: 10/27/2015 1:59:48 PMNice .7 kd seems like snipers are not your only problem

Preach my good sir, but you forgot pulse rifles.

You sir are dumb

OP went full retard, holy shit.

The problem was it wasn't worth it and neither will trials be
