Hard Mode is an Extension of the Raid
After listening to the interview with Luke Smith with Kotaku one thing is clear....we have not seen everything the raid has to offer yet.
Luke Smith said that this is still the biggest raid yet implying that normal mode is only part 1 and there is much more to come.
I believe hard mode will not be a rehash of normal but instead a set of completely different bosses.
The fact that Bungie won't officially announce if Oryx is dead? No information yet on the Queen (outside of grimorie)? This interview with Luke Smith?
I'm excited for hard mode and Kings Fall 2.0.

Edit: to dispel a rumor they said that "they started with hard mode and then scaled it down to normal mode". That does not necessarily mean with difficulty...it could have meant started with 6 bosses and then gave us 3 for normal. We are assuming a lot with that statement.
Edit 2: TTK is year 2, Kings Fall is year 2. Don't assume the pattern for year 1 raids will continue with year 2.

I've suspected that the hard mode has a few more areas and bosses for a while. I think that the last three Calcified fragments will be found in these new areas.

If you go to the tower hangar and go to where you can view all the ships you have collected there is ship on page 2 that says obtained by beating oryx on hard mode. Now for hard mode having more secret chest seeing how they found a new room that could be possible.

Oryx is dead, but alas, he lives forever in the Touch of Malice core. Confirmed by grimoire. He isn't coming back, save for Heroic mode.

His chest starts charging up and he destroys a lot of the stuff in front of him. He basically destroys the final boss room. To avoid this blast, take cover behind a pillar or wall. The room starts collapsing and shattering, but your Ghost summons your ship. Each member of the raid summons their own ship. Oryx has wings, and he starts chasing you, through Saturn's rings. Your flying away from him in your ship, dodging degree and rocks. You even thread the needle through the destroy awoken ketch. You keep flying through the ring in your ship, dodging various attacks from oryx, even wizards start chasing you through Saturn's wings. Remember, your ship had guns. This is where buying certain ships from away holiday comes in use. He once again summons doxology, his chest starts charging up. You must stagger him with your ship weapons, eject from your ship, use a sword to pierce his chest and with your other hand you pull out a secondary and shoot his chest. He stabbed even more and everyone is flung from his chest, you must pull out your ghost and you will be put into your ship again.

3 RepliesIdeas for Hard Mode Raid. Boss fight before Hard Oryx...The Taken Queen Mara Sov. Once you kill Hard Oryx. Same thing, Oryx explodes and floats away, but now there's a thrall that spawns where Oryx does. Only this thrall is named Aurash. And it limps around like a wounded dog. Maybe Bungie puts in a crying/whimpering sound for it. Aurash is mortified at everything she has done for countless millenia, and as Guardians, you get to see the true form of The Taken King. Just a broken scared thrall that wishes to be put down for its countless crimes.

Well the first area where you retrieve the relic for the Court of Oryx statues could be turned up a notch if you had to fight the bosses from court of oryx each time you activated a statue. The glyphs, warpriest and Golgoroth seem hard enough without revives. I haven't made it past Golgoroth yet but these are just my initial thoughts.

12 RepliesI hope it's better than the first raid. Kings fall is kind of a let down. Just run through hoops, and shoot snipers at dps checkpoints. That sums up the raid. Not really that fun. Vog is still the best raid.
