Hello everyone. So I still see a lot of people questioning if the subclass specific emblems are bugged, can not be unlocked yet, or just won't unlock, because you did something wrong, or whatever, and I had the same thoughts about them too over the past 2 weeks. Here is the answer!
So I'm going to give you the exact requirements (almost, not 100% certain, but 90%+) you HAVE to had done to unlock your subclass specific emblem.
________________________________________________
[UPDATE] Since it has been a while and by now it's definetely clear what is needed to unlock the subclass emblems, I decided to update this topic real quick to make it easier for anyone who is looking for the answer on how to unlock the subclass emblems.
ALL you need to do to get your subclass emblem is to finish the corresponding PVP class quest. They consist of 3 quests for each subclass.
- Meele Kills -> Grenade Kills -> Special Multi Kills
You can't choose the order of WHICH subclass quest is started. They go by a set order of how they originally unlock in the game.
- Titan: Striker -> Defender -> Sunbreaker
- Hunter: Gunslinger -> Blade Dancer -> Nightstalker
- Warlock: Voidwalker -> Sunsinger -> Stormcaller
In short, if you want to unlock, lets say the Warlock Stormcaller subclass emblem, you HAVE to finish the Voidwalker and Sunsinger subclass quests first, in order to start the Stormcaller subclass quest.
[UPDATE 2] With the latest patch in November 2015 the order in which the subclass quest is activated is not set anymore. You can do any, or all of them at the same time.
So that's it^^ Thank you for checking out this topic and I hope this update made it easier for you guys to get the information you were looking for. If you still want to read what I originally posted, feel free, but the vital information is all in this small update part.

But FIRST, let me clarify something, that a lot of people are asking, or questioning if it works right.
FINISHING your subclass specific PvE quest chain (kill enemies with your meele/grenade attack, kill X amount of enemies with your special, generate X amount of orbs with your special) is NOT the only requirement you have to check, to unlock your subclass specific emblem.
The subclass specific PvP quest chain is vital to this!!! But here lies the problem. Unlike the subclass specific PvE quest chain, that can be started just by playing on the subclass you want to unlock, the subclass specific PvP quest chain unlocks in a predetermined order, that you can't influence in any way!
In my example on my Titan, Zavala (the Titan vanguard NPC) gave me a quest which asked me to defeat 15 enemies with my Storm Fist, which is a Striker exclusive meele abiility. As I'm not averted to PvP, but also not too eager to play it every moment I can, I pushed this quest to the back of my priority list. Now here is the deal. I'm a Defender Titan main, and I play on my Defender subclass most of the time, but I never got the Defender based PvP quest. So recently, since I finished most of my other things on my Titan, I started to focus on the Storm Fist kills in the Crucible. I finished the 15 kills with Storm Fist, which triggered the next step, which asked me to kill 20 Guardians in the crucible with the striker related grenade(doesn't matter which grenade, just arc grenade from a striker). After finishing that quest, the next step asked me to do 30 multi kills with the striker related special Fist of Havoc. And now here is the thing, after I finished those 30 multi kills, I unlocked the Striker subclass emblem and triggered the next set of subclass quests from Zavala, which asked me to do Meele kills as a Defender Titan now. What is important to mention here is, I didn't finish the Striker PvE quest that asks you to generate 7 orb of lights with your special 3 times in one strike yet. Still I unlocked the subclass emblem the moment I finished the last PvP related quest to the Striker subclass. On the other hand though, I finished ALL PvE related Defender quests though, including the "X amount of Orbs/kills" with your special.
So here is my take on the subclass emblem issue and the very most prerequisites in order to unlock it!
1. Finish your subclass related PvE quests up to the point, where it asks you to generate X amount of Orbs X amount of times with your special during a strike
2. Finish the PvP related quest up til the very end, which unlocks in order of how the class itself unlocks it's subclasses.
Meaning for Titan it's Striker->Defender-> Sunbreaker
For Warlocks it's Void Walker-> Sunsinger-> Storm Caller
For Hunters it's Gunslinger->Blade Dancer->Nightstalker
So, in order to unlock the Sunbreaker class emblem on your Titan, you HAVE TO finish the Striker related PvP quests first, in order to trigger the Defender related PvP quests, which will unlock the Sunbreaker related PvP quests afterwards.
Based on the fact that I got the Striker subclass emblem, without having finished the PvE quest that asks you to do something specific in a strike (usually generate X amount of orbs with your special X amount of times), it seems the PvP related quests are whats key here!
So, for all you collectors out there, who want to get all possible emblems, or maybe just one specific emblem for your prefered subclass, this is how it works.
If this helped you, please upvote, so other players who are looking for the answer on how to unlock their subclass emblem, can see this thread!
Thank you and have a great day in life and in Destiny :)

Took the liberty of updating my original post, to make it more clear what is mandatory and needed to get your subclass emblem. This includes the new november patch. Back to Fallout 4 now :D

I guess I'm never getting those emblems then. Cool. I don't play PvP in this game because of the terrible way it's made. :/ Barely once in a blue moon do I even think about doing PvP in this game. No fun, all whining to nerf each other's everything. That rock? "It's OP, you can hide behind it." Eh... no thank you. Would rather sit through a CoD "MLG" livestream for 24 hours and kill myself.

28 RepliesStop forcing us into PvP, Bungie!

2 RepliesAlways thought about this since the quests I have left are PvP related on my hunter but in case the other classes don't know the very 1st step on a hunter is to get 15 headshots with the throwing knife now I'm not a big PvP player I can hit anyone in pve with a knife headshot but in the crucible its a lot harder I'm gonna keep trying though I have it up to 10/15
-
So to get these emblems, I have to actually play PvP? ...NOPE SCREW THAT!
-
Ah you have to PVP to do it? Well that's kinda lame. I'll have to forget about them then.

Just got the void walker emblem this morning. Going for the sunsinger emblem tommorow.

Im glad I finished all of them on my titan. I like the defender emblem the best. I should start on getting the other class emblems but that is for another time.
