Does not matter if other games do it or not. They do not ever have to be fair in what content you get access to or for how long ever. It is their game. they make the rules. they decide what is fair or not; not the gamer ever. Dont like it, then dont play it or buy anymore from them. For they are not going to change just because a few get upset about it.

Customers do not hold all the power and never did in the game industry and never will. If you think that customers do you are more the fool for thinking so. Uneducated.. lol.. I know what they can do and what they have done is by no means against any law or regulations at all. if you think it is then take them to court over it..
