Just got the Graviton Forfeit Helmet, which gave me my first taste of the Perk Shadestep. Hit (B,B) [O,O on PS] and Shadestepped....2 feet to the side. Needless to say I was underwhelmed. The perk seems to have exactly ONE benefit scenario. If you are right on top of a guy in PvP and manage to get the Shadestep off before he shotguns you to death, you can be behind him or on his side and maybe get a decent knife shot/shotgun in to kill them. As soon as you're outside of 5 feet from a guy though, this perk will be completely useless. Think I'd rather kep my super-tracker that lets me see more clearly where things are located and kill them from 100 feet away than have an ability that may or may not activate in time when a guy is charging with his shottie. So Shadestep needs a major buff right out of the gate if Bungie ever wantsme to genuinely use it or think its even close to awesome. Anyone else used Shadestep and what are your thoughts?

1 ReplyKnucklehead radar + keen scout > graviton forfeit with keen scout selected and shadow step granted. The buffed radar is much more useful.

It's really just and aesthetic

Edited by Rekky: 11/6/2015 6:35:30 PMHeadshot shadestep will allow you to never trade with the few good (non body shotters)snipers this game has left
-
It's the best for golgoroth orbs and PvP. Also for taken captains darkness orbs
-
1 ReplyI would have never completed last weeks nightfall without shadestep
-
1 ReplyUse shadestep to avoid the venom blasts from golgoroth in the raid. It works against slow moving bullets or getting away from grenades.
-
Shadestep is actually really good! However it's not best in close range.
-
Except for the fact that it's awesome

2 Repliesshadestep has saved me from dying more times than i can count. shadestep plus vanish in shadow even more so.
-
Shadestep has saved my life too many times to count in PvP and PvE, just gotta know how to use it.
-
Worthless? That's like saying smoke sucks also......
-
The graviton is the most favored nights talker helm in the game atm because of that perk it is used heavily in crucible and pve u r just complaining for no reason
-
You are so wrong shade step is amazing and it almost made me want to main a hunter just because of that one perk.
-
5 RepliesThere's damage resistance/invulnerability when you use it, just have to time iy
-
Whenever I kill those Taken Hobgoblins and their void blast was about to fly at me, Shadestep to the side is always useful.
-
You must suck. Shade step is one op ability you have for free. Whilst shade stepping you can be hit by bullets. So a well timed shade step can easily save your life.

Edited by Dexter307: 11/3/2015 6:06:32 PMI like it when enemies use it because it makes them easy kills :) Shade step only fools bad players
-
I've save so many teammates in PvE when they're literally under an enemy using shadestep. Run, rez, and backflip away. Use it correctly and it's invaluable
-
False, it's amazing. You're just using it wrong.
-
Its amazing for pvp.
-
It's meant to help you get behind cover faster which it does pretty well, not to dodge around other players
-
Well with the helmet I'm pretty sure you can have shadestep and the tracker perk at the same time. I kind of like it. I've dodged a lot of shots in PVP like from an open space behind cover. It seems that you can still be damaged tho even while "shaded" . Haven't got to try it much yet in pve seems to work the same way. Kinda hit or miss. I personally like evasive maneuvers so I'm going to practice and try to make the best of it

1 ReplyExcept for the fact it is very useful

1 ReplyI use poison grenades(no invis) so I find shadestep helpful for revives. Bring your buddy up and then shade backflip out of the line of fire.
-
1 ReplyI thought it should've been a short, quick teleport instead of a roll...
-
1 ReplyIt's Op when paired with better control jump if you use it right after
