When you have the exotic in your inventory or vault you can get a copy with the blueprint.
When you sharded the exotic prior to the 2.0 patch, the blueprint shows "require discovery" (or something in that line).
So, either the description on the blueprint is wrong or the existing grimoire cards do not count as proof of past discovery.
Please clarify.

The game doesnt register that you owned it because blueprints arent based of grimoire cards

12 RepliesEdited by SwackMan: 9/10/2015 7:11:46 PMThey were very clear in the Year 2 Twitch Feed at the 41:40 mark and onwards that the intent of the blueprint kioks was for exotics that were misplaced / deleted to be resurrected. They should have used the grimoire cards, or the union of the current contents + grimoire cards to come up with the list. Their approach is flawed and contrary to the intent of the blueprint approach. What they are saying now is that you can recover deleted year 1 exotics providing you lost them after the 2.0.0 patch. Really?

Grimour cards don't count. You had to have had the exotic item in your vault or on a character when 2.0 hit.

You need to have the exotic on your character or in your vault when 2.0 dropped...as said by Deej on one of the streams 'don't dismantle anything yet'. After all if you dismantled something before 2.0 you no longer had it did you? No you didn't you could not grab it from vault or another character's inventory. Because you no longer have it you need to find it again for the blueprint to work. Hope that was clear and helpful.

I'm having the same problem. After finding out we would be able to "rebuild" them I cleared up some vault space by disassembling all my unused/rarely used exotic weapons. The few I saved in my vault are "discovered" and the others I have grimoire score for but don't have in my possession anymore say require discovery.

I was just about to say that this might be away to distinguish those who bought an item through Xur and those who actually got the Gjallahorn through a raid or strike, but then I remembered that I bought a second one last night for my hunter so that can't be it. I'm having a similar issue with Armamentarium. The armory page says that there is a Year 2 version, but I don't see it anywhere
