Is the Crucible the worst "competitive" multiplayer in a AAA shooter ever?

I don't see how there could be any way Destiny would ever be tourny-ready in a serious environment. Its just annoying by the amount of things you can instantly die to (Fist of Panic and Corner-Shoulderbumps come to mind). I'm a long-time TF2 player, so that's my background of FPS. So, probably a bit biased towards what I think should be balanced in a class-focused game.

It's casual and I don't think mlg tryhards would be fun in Destiny.that's what is killing call of south with everyone using one gun in every match

Anyone looking for competitive PVP multiplayer is simply looking in the wrong place. Take the MLG stuff elsewhere, this never claimed to be that. But it is incredibly fun for me if you can do without equal start stuff and throw space magic around.

Going to have to disagree. I enjoy the crucible as a whole, but some of the things in crucible are broken and annoying.

23 RepliesFrom a [i]competitive[/i] standpoint? Absolutely. However, as a PvE-focused game, I don't understand why people expected it to be, to begin with. Crucible is fun, but with the copious amount of new weapons being added on a regular basis, and the way the classes all differ, there is NO way it can ever be balanced on a scale even REMOTELY close to the test of the AAA shooters. ...and that's [i]okay[/i]! There's way more content on the other side of the PvP/PvE wall, guys. :P

Things that will improve crucible right now: # Buff auto rifles to what they almost used to be. Cause I don't know about you guys but I never thought ARs were op just that the other option (Pulse rifles) were shity as hell. But now it WOULD be a even playing field. # Dedicated servers.[spoiler]for the love of lag[/spoiler] # Add a sort of damage fall off (with the range and all to the Thorn DoT) [spoiler]I have and use thorn it's just this is the best solution i can think of without ruining the gun[/spoiler](basically make the damage fall of work on the dot, but where the initial bullet hits sets the mark, no moving away ) # Fix it where TLW is able to two shot people while ads. [spoiler]I love my TLW and jet again this is the closest thing i can think of to satisfy the nerf babies[/spoiler] # Dedicated servers

All we need is a dedicated server for crucible and banner gate. You will still run into the usual camper and shot gun primaries but that's Pvp I suppose.

1 ReplyWell Ive played WORSE, and with the super tight gunplay I rhink it COULD be very competitive.......However ther lackof deicated server and the lackadasical netcode combine to make it the LAG GAMES. Ethe land where switchers and deliberate stiffling of your connection rules the day (and what ever the flavour of the month OP gun is due to the wonky as perks system that give blatently incorrect perks to guns ( I mean range perks on shotguns!??! what next firefly on auto rifles?)

Blame the maps and lack of creative game types to take advantage of Destiny's style of play. The dlc maps are much better though.

Reach was awful lol. It will always have the "worst multiplayer" title for me. Destiny PvP is awful too but it is fun. The only thing I have an issue with is awful balancing.

As far as being "balanced" and "competitive" it is one of the worst. But I must say, I really enjoy using the loot I have received and it is very fun to play. I prefer doing Crucible bounties over Vanguard.
