How the hell do the bullets in the magazine make their way to the chamber?
Edit: OK, obviously the bullets have to somehow move behind the little thumb hole. Which is dumb. But explain THIS

3 RepliesBecause this is post golden age. We dont use bullets. We dont use money. Everything circles glimmer, which is programable matter. Hints why ammo pickups are clear glimmer boxes that transform when you pick them up. The glimmer is put into the gun, and then converts to bullets in the chamber. I hate when explaining it this way, because of dumb glimmer science, but its thte only way it makes sense. Ex hand cannons dont spin the revolving chamber. It shakes (watch the animation on red hand and you'll notice it doesnt revolve). And the lower barrel isnt connected to the clip. There are no bullets. Just a glimmer 'canister'

15 RepliesThe magazines are actually containment units and the "bullets" are actually electro-active, iso-thermonuclear nodes that travel through magneto-stabilized conduit to be activated by a concentrated electron beam in the chamber, causing a tiny fission detonation sending a hyper-heated micro-projectile out of the barrel. This is why the gun has kick but you don't have to compensate for gravity -- very low mass, extremely high velocity. This is also why high-impact guns have low range -- the projectile is larger, but it degrades rapidly due to friction with the air. At least that's what I've heard.

1 ReplyI'm more worried about how you even fit a single Thorn Projectile in a container smaller than it, let alone seven more.

As if by magic.

Edited by Mewing_Raven: 5/12/2015 7:02:40 PMIt's a light energy pack that converts a power source into semi-stable, bullet-shaped solids, which are then ionized and propelled via gauss-type action. The "gunshot" is a combination of the noises of energy being flash-converted to matter, and the sonic boom from the projectiles breaking the sound barrier. Obviously. Edit: Spelling.

I'll be honest, this did cross my mind. I thought I was he only one who questioned it. But then that opens up other questions like "what exactly is going on when a fusion rifle fires?" In fact "how does he ice breaker regenerate ammo?" Or "why does my uncle Jim only visit my mum when my dad is away?" Questions questions questions

Space magic, duh

You're worried about this, yet the fact I can shoot a purple beam with the pal of my hands is ok? =D

somewhere the answer lies in the same explanation of how dinklebot found my decayed corpse in a car after centuries (so I was more like dust), and decided I was special enough to resurrect me, give me clothes and a weapon, then send me out to fight a war that I have no idea how it started.

6 RepliesHonestly, if we're going to try to understand Destiny's weapon designs, I'd say there's a mini transmat involved.
A "transmat" is a piece of technology used to transport/transmit matter via teleportation. 3spoop.
If the technology allows for it, then you can design the gun to be comfortable in a Guardian's hand, and forego the need to have a magazine well that connects to the chamber. Plug the clip in, computer digitally takes bullet from magazine, and applies the bullet to the chamber. Rinse and repeat.
In my defense, it's said in various Grimoire cards and even in-game by your Ghost that Transmat systems exist. Whether or not the technology is easily mass produced for common firearms, that's just speculation on my part.
4 RepliesWe don't actually use bullets, they're all energy weapons and battery packs. That's why no casings or shells are ejected from the side of the weapon when firing.
-
8 RepliesIt's called a bull pup design. Google it.

The idea is that the magazine doesn't actually have bullets, it's just a battery. Kinda like thermal clips from Mass Effect.
