Watching people play it on Twitch and reading threads on neo, /VG/, and a few other places most of the players reactions are that the game is easy. So easy in fact that you can hold down the R1 button to win every fight and never have to parry or dodge. You also gain back 99% of your life due to life steal. Even if neither of those things mean much to you it is still concerning.
Edit:
Honestly, it deserves the lowest ranking in the series, imo.
I've just beaten Gerhman, and the game is not better than Dark Souls 2. Not even close.
Gone are the memorable npc's like blacksmiths, vendors and others. Gone is the reward for killing enemies. Gone is the reward and interest for killing bosses.
Can't make weapons from boss "souls", can't find weapons in the wild, literally no point to fighting any enemy what so ever other than bosses. The worst hub world out of all 4 games, one NPC in it, no black smith, just an empty -blam!-ing table and fireplace.
It's the most soulless game of them all. It seems like it didn't even have half the dev time or men on board as the other projects. Even so lazy as to attach sound files to level geometry and call them npc's.
It doesn't feel like a Fromsoft game. I'm starting to think more and more this is actually a JapanStudio game and Fromsoft only supplied the base mechanics work and maybe concepting.
Game is the absolute streamlined nightmare I hoped Souls would never become. The chalice dungeons have turned the game into -blam!-ing shitty loot table mmo thing instead of actual builds, they replaced variety with algorithm spice on weapons. It's just -blam!-ing crap and lame.
None of it makes sense. Why are you allways having a gun equipped, if parry timing is as hard as dark souls, but the distance parries don't work because you need to be close enough to initiate the riposte anyway?
And about that. No riposte using the unique weapons animations? Just a stock standard fist punch thing?
The game has lack of effort or quick development written all over it. I'm not going to be surprised by the credits when I finish to find out that Miyazaki is the only name on the list who had anything to do with souls games.
The game doesn't have have half the content depth of the FIRST QUARTER of Dark Souls for -blam!-s sake.

1 ReplyGood thing it's not a souls game

Bloodborne is -blam!-ing amazing, didn't think I was going to like it when I started off but ten once you get in to it you can't stop playing it!

3 RepliesSo since this has been bumped is like to remind everyone that this Otis guy has not played the game. He doesn't own a ps4 and has lied a ton just to shit on a game he has never played. If you dig through this post you'll find the original conversation where he is shown to be a liar.
do not take this review seriously, he hasn't played the game.
I didn't like it
-
Maybe they drop a shit ton in a dlc or something
-
You're right, it was another DkS2 esque disappointment But it was still a good game for what it's worth, just wasn't what we, as the souls community, have expected since the time of Gwyn.

I started with Bloodborne. After playing the rest of the games, I kind of agree. BB is definitely more focused on the action and is much more streamlined than any of the previous games. Which is why they released it as a new IP. It's got the Souls feel, but it's not a Souls game and it wasn't supposed to be. I liked the BB plot and the new setting however. I personally feel that it was much more like a spiritual sequel to Demon's Souls (Japan Studio was involved with that too). The whole game can be traced back to the feel of the tower of latria. It looks like we may be getting a 3rd Dark Souls game. With Miyazaki having more involvement this time, so hopefully he can rein in some of the bloat that Dark Souls 2 had. I'd play a game by either the so called A or B team, it really doesn't matter to me. So long as they don't try to one-up themselves by adding even more artificial difficulty like they did in the DaS2 DLC. That said, if you don't like the BB play style, you should hate the DaS2 DLC as they made shields all but useless and all you can do is roll around like crazy and counterattack. That's pretty much BB in a nutshell. In a Souls game I want wide viability of builds. If every boss can stagger you, then tank builds are useless. If bosses are damn near immune to magic, that kind of wrecks all the caster builds. If the only way to survive is to be a dexterity roll monkey, then I may as well wait for Bloodborne 2. Honestly I think all the Souls games have been projects that were underfunded, publishers didn't care about and weren't considered commercial successes. If nothing else, Bloodborne actually brought From some much needed time in the spotlight. If there is actually going to be a DaS3 or BB2, they are likely to be much bigger/better funded games. Is that a good thing? Well, we may end up with a much more casul friendly game because they will want a larger return on the investment. But it's more likely that they will add in something like a difficulty selection, so the scrubs can be scrubby and still get through the game. While the semi-hardcore like me can finish it on normal and the bleeding edge hardcore folks can start on NG+7. But like I said... I'll take more of whatever.

It's not a souls game op you retard so this whole review is useless since you basically just compared dark souls and bloodborne
-
It caters to more casual players to increase sales. It's what they did with Halo and elder scrolls
-
Hmm my only agreement with u is that there's no unique riposte for each weapon Otherwise I deeply enjoyed the games as I did the previous souls games, as will I dks3, whenever that may come out

3 RepliesDs2 was poopy and your saying this game was worse than ds2. That's the ultimate insult

Edited by WhitEWatchEs: 3/24/2015 10:19:09 PMI disagree, the game is a actual challenge and it's refreshing after the easy no brains required mode of destiny. And you need to actually play it, and maybe be a fan of the dark souls series
-
>Bloodbourne >Series Op, why you be so dumb?
-
6 RepliesSo it's nothing like a dark souls game? Maybe that's why is not called "dark souls 3", and instead a totally separate franchise.......

*sigh* there always has to be that one little bitch who looks at the bad side of everything eh? Too bad this one is an elitist as well.

10 RepliesWell I was thinking about buying this game but now I'm not interested anymore and I will not be buying it ever. Too many game developers are going to try and fool us with what I would call and classify as a "BUNGIE " and I won't be duped again

22 RepliesEdited by Cinders-Shadow: 3/25/2015 4:59:45 AMThere are weapons in the wild Npcs drop items, useful for many Various Npcs, besides blacksmiths. U say it as if no Npcs exist... Leveling up system is very similar Rewarding gameplay. While there isn't blacksmith, a similar function is put into place as the souls games which forces you to progress to certain areas to upgrade ur weapons higher. Runes and such, are similar to Embers. Hard bosses. (Act like a little bad ass all u want, the bosses are tough. Cleric beast, the first one feels like the Taurus demon took rods from dark souls) Nvm the great aspects they included. A new summoning system. (Not great for private matches until they patch a few issues) is great. Ring a bell, go nd fight while u wait. Fluid Co op Weapon change system. New story. New weaponry which varied greatly from souls games Super aggressive Npcs. I just somewhat doubt you played this game *edit Oh nd lastly, button mashing r1 is suicide. Whoever says just spam r1 hasn't gone up an enemy with any kind of poise.
