Socialism (edgy teenager)

Capitalism with many socialist elements

Government-regulated capitalism

Completely self-regulated market

The only reason I don't agree with a completely self-regulated market is because certain industries like infrastructure and defense can't function competitively. You can have plenty of shoe factories to compete with each other because there's plenty of space, but with roads it's like what the fuck. Space is just too limited and competition isn't possible. And with defense, I mean it just makes no sense how that would operate without a government. Also, lol @ the edgy kids who still think socialism is functional and realistic. Just kill yourselves.

Government regulated capitalism and socialism is pretty much the same thing. I assume the socialism you're referring to is communism. Saying socialism and meaning communism is like saying anarchism and meaning liberalism. And for the record a self regulated market is terrible for the people. It's basically the ISP situation in the US right now. Time Warner is making 97% profit on their internet! I'm okay with companies making a profit but if a company can make a 97% profit with no competition then something needs to change. And having two of the largest ISPs merge is a -blam!-ing insane idea and I hope they stop them from merging because then it'll be even more of a monopoly than it already is.

          • I don't know. I really don't think that any governments do it right. Is there a type of communism that has the benefits of private property as well as providing home, health care, employment, etc?

            • Idealized scenario is anarchy, with an unregulated economy. Realistic scenario is a controlled capitalistic society.

I don't know why teens think that socialism is a "go to" solution to capitalism.
socialism (edgy teenager)
Topkek But government regulated capitalism seems the most practical. Having a self-regulated market can create monopolies, insufficiencies with what we call civil services, and mucho corruption. And a socialist market just seems a tad dumb in my mind. I feel like it's one of those ideas that are "new and trendy" but not really practical.

                    • a good combination of the two. personally i think education and healthcare are basic rights that should be available to everyone. i see no reason why someone should have to pay to deliver their child or pay for non cosmetic surgeries or appointments. I think its harmful to society when you put a price tag on education, limiting the amount of competent people that can contribute to our communities. that being said, i see the competition of free markets as something that keeps humanity moving forward and i think its necessary for us to keep improving as a whole. i just think everyone should start off on an equal foot. i dont think someones quality of education or health should be dictated by how much money they have to spend on it.

Socialism can work, but the chances of there ever being a suitably altruistic leader are minimal.
