From a veteran IceBreaker user...
I've had my IceBreaker for a long, long, LONG time. Even had to go through the trouble of re-leveling it post-DLC, because there was no compromise...it had to be updated. This is my go-to exotic weapon for all endgame content...as it will (or should be) yours.
The majority of people buying it from Xur will almost assuredly need it, and I can tell you from experience that after you get accustomed to it's disgustingly huge recoil, you will learn to love this rifle. Each time you fire off that signature whistle and send some unfortunately alien to it's burning demise, you will be happy you have your hands on the best sniper rifle in the game.
So yeah, enjoy it folks...happy to have more people with it around now. I'm not one of these spoiled brats who's gonna get mad because they're not special anymore. Get that thing from Xur, get it leveled up and then on Jan 21st show those Boomer Knights in Crota's dungeon the true meaning of death from a thousand paces.
[i]EDIT- This was not meant to be a IceBreaker Vs. Black Hammer debate. I happen to have both fully upgraded, and I prefer the worry free versatility of IB over BH's higher DPS. To each their own...but IceBreaker is one of the "Big 3" exotics in the game. If you can get it, get it...and enjoy the benefits of what I call the "MEGA Multi-Tool".

Got Icebreaker from first omnigul strike And have been swapping it between my guys ever since. So glad xur sold it so all my guys can have their own.

2 RepliesIcebreaker is a great tool. It opens up tons of possibilities that other snipers just don't offer. Sniping the Templar from up high. Finding a hiding spot on almost any strike and whittling the boss down. Regenerating ammo for a different special weapon (shotgun, fusion rifle, sniper rifle) then switching to it. And tons more. When you have a full team with icebreaker you can do all kinds of strategies in raids, nightfalls, or strikes that otherwise wouldn't be possible. To all the guardians just getting one. Welcome to the team. Let's go wreck faces!!

Thank you, you have restored my faith in humanity. Everyone getting salty that hes selling ice breaker, well ive played the alpha, the beta and i got the game on day one and i have never had an icebreaker drop for me and i play it every god damn day. I was so happy that xur is selling it again (the first time i didn;t realise it would be so important)

Well said Thr33x. I've only had mine since right after DLC and anybody complaining that too many people with this gun is a bad thing is a nut at best. The more people with this gun the better group activities will be in the future.

Its about time this game rewards the players with something good, I had mine from week 2 but this game don't give people who play often a chance to get good stuff, start a fresh new account you get ice breaker and gjallorhorn in the same drop.

My group had been ribbing me for months over my lack of having an Ice Breaker. Last night during a raid on Crota's End, Ir Yut dropped it for me. I shouted so loud I woke my wife up. She was p*ssed lol.. This morning, I see Xur is selling it. You know what? It's all good. Receiving it as an RNG drop was such a great feeling, especially since I've wanted it for so long. I asked to take Boomer Knight sniping duty, which I did with a huge grin on my face. Listening to the distinctive whistle of each shot as I protected our Sword Bearer was a great way to end the raid. Simply buying it would not have given me the same buzz. I'll still buy two more for my alts. It's going to prove its worth I'm sure.

This is true, the more people has it the better the mission will go. Had mine before the dlc maxed out. Had to upgrade it and it's maxed again. It's my go to to gun too.

Yes, I've had mine since week 2. I love my baby. The recoil isn't even noticeable for me anymore. It also helps that I have an AR with massive recoil, so I'm just to the slight upper right tilt of weapons now. Haha. Don't get me wrong, I love me a weapon with no recoil, I'm just used to adjusting to it so it's no big deal. Congrats, by the way, to everyone who hasn't had it until now! This gun will own your inventory.

The good thing is that strikes and raids will be much easier now that everybody has it. Hope xur sells the jellyhorn next week.

My 3rd (or 1st) has become Thorn after I finally completed that bounty - since I suck at PvP. Now I can finally add Icebreaker - did not have enough coins last time - saw it dropped a few times since, but never to me.
