From a veteran IceBreaker user...
I've had my IceBreaker for a long, long, LONG time. Even had to go through the trouble of re-leveling it post-DLC, because there was no compromise...it had to be updated. This is my go-to exotic weapon for all endgame content...as it will (or should be) yours.
The majority of people buying it from Xur will almost assuredly need it, and I can tell you from experience that after you get accustomed to it's disgustingly huge recoil, you will learn to love this rifle. Each time you fire off that signature whistle and send some unfortunately alien to it's burning demise, you will be happy you have your hands on the best sniper rifle in the game.
So yeah, enjoy it folks...happy to have more people with it around now. I'm not one of these spoiled brats who's gonna get mad because they're not special anymore. Get that thing from Xur, get it leveled up and then on Jan 21st show those Boomer Knights in Crota's dungeon the true meaning of death from a thousand paces.
[i]EDIT- This was not meant to be a IceBreaker Vs. Black Hammer debate. I happen to have both fully upgraded, and I prefer the worry free versatility of IB over BH's higher DPS. To each their own...but IceBreaker is one of the "Big 3" exotics in the game. If you can get it, get it...and enjoy the benefits of what I call the "MEGA Multi-Tool".
EDIT- Multiple edit alert! Yeah, I'm one of those guys now. :-P Generally positive response. Good stuff. Yes, there's a handful of assholes who shame their parents with their idiocy but that's to be expected.
EDIT- Yeah, veteran. Had it before Xur sold it the first time. Like how all us Alpha/Beta players are veterans compared to the newcoming holiday crowd. Savvy? Get your heads out of your asses for one small moment for love of country?[/i]

I love my icebreaker. Just like you, I've been playing for awhile, it was my 2nd exotic I received. It is the most universal weapon in the game. Not only does it generate ammo, you can equip this to generate ammo, switch weapons (black hammer) and have a full clip with 8 in 5 in reserve. No need to use a synthesis. I have and always will love this gun.

5 RepliesI've been playing since beta, and opted out of buying icebreaker the first time... I thought "oh it can't be much different from P&T" Yeah, we all know how wrong I was... Through countless raids I've watched as all my friends got it, countless night falls, then most of the Christmas people I carried through the nightfall started getting it.. So I'm more than happy xur has it.. At around 600 hours played, couldn't honestly tell you how many Vog completions, and three nightfalls a week since September, I finally have one.. And already love it

Yeah Ive had this gun since way back and It has been my go to weapon for a long time. This gun is an absolute monster in both PvE and PvP. Really happy xur sold it so now people will be better equipped for raids and strikes.

I am also vet, been here since the alpha. I am more than happy to see new and old players wielding this magnificent weapon. This will help in raids tremendously. Its nice to see positive posts like this one. This community truly needs to see more like it.

I'm totally thinking the same thing, get a -blam!-ing decent sniper into these guy's hands. so now there is no reason why people shouldn't be properly geared amiright? the only people bitching are the "special snowflake" types, now Im not the only one on my raid team that will be putting down the wizards/boomers on deathsinger/crota. thank you xur, thank you bungie, thank you RNGEEEZUS!!!

Likewise I've had it for as long as I can remember: simply the best sniper in the game and probably the best weapon full-stop, indispensable for raids and bosses

Exactly. Anytime I get my hands on an exotic that my friends don't have, I anticipate them getting it from Xur or a drop, because I want them to have that same excitement I felt when I got it. And I want them to have fun using it, just like I do.

I've had the game since alpha and didn't have enough coins to buy IB or GHorn and haven't been rewarded with them yet so Xur selling IB makes my experience in game more useful due to a great weapon

I too have had my IB since before Xur sold it the first time, it has been a vital asset to my arsenal...that being said, there definitely are certain situations where BH works better for me (dat Sepiks strike by a mile, down the walker with 3-5 shots on BH, open the head & pop a bunch of shots in there...kill in less than 30 seconds with multiple people firing on it)
