From a veteran IceBreaker user...
I've had my IceBreaker for a long, long, LONG time. Even had to go through the trouble of re-leveling it post-DLC, because there was no compromise...it had to be updated. This is my go-to exotic weapon for all endgame content...as it will (or should be) yours.
The majority of people buying it from Xur will almost assuredly need it, and I can tell you from experience that after you get accustomed to it's disgustingly huge recoil, you will learn to love this rifle. Each time you fire off that signature whistle and send some unfortunately alien to it's burning demise, you will be happy you have your hands on the best sniper rifle in the game.
So yeah, enjoy it folks...happy to have more people with it around now. I'm not one of these spoiled brats who's gonna get mad because they're not special anymore. Get that thing from Xur, get it leveled up and then on Jan 21st show those Boomer Knights in Crota's dungeon the true meaning of death from a thousand paces.
[i]EDIT- This was not meant to be a IceBreaker Vs. Black Hammer debate. I happen to have both fully upgraded, and I prefer the worry free versatility of IB over BH's higher DPS. To each their own...but IceBreaker is one of the "Big 3" exotics in the game. If you can get it, get it...and enjoy the benefits of what I call the "MEGA Multi-Tool".
EDIT- Multiple edit alert! Yeah, I'm one of those guys now. :-P Generally positive response. Good stuff. Yes, there's a handful of assholes who shame their parents with their idiocy but that's to be expected.

Oh the glory days, i keep the original for sentimental value. It was the first exotic gun i earned in a rag tag team doing night fall...that clip is the single greatest feature on any gun in my opinion

I've had an IB forever and really don't care if everyone has one. It's a fantastic sniper for endgame PVE, and can even be decent in PVP until you pick up a Praedyths or LDR.

IB is one of my favorite weapons but what I have a problem with. 1)why the tier only adjust how the recoil reacts..... really not necessary 2)Reload speed. Yes yes i know it don't reload but make it so that reload speed is how quick can it resupply. 3)Lightweight perk. Why switch a useless with a somewhat more useless perk. 4)last but least, my biggest concern, the IB perk. IB < firefly that sum up everything. If the blast radius was going to be that small should at least put explosive rounds as part of the perk. But other than that I still love this gun

14 RepliesWhy do people feel the need to say "I'm happy that other people get to buy the IB now", but in that same post, they just HAVE to mention how they've had the gun since way back before anyone else had it, or since day one, or from a random drop months ago, bla bla bla. Seriously. I'm sorry, but if someone goes out of their way to say how they were one of the first to have it, but try to say they're happy for others, to me, it sounds like an attempt to mask their frustration or anger towards people by being fake. If you're genuinely happy for everyone, just say that and be done with it. You don't need to go on about how you had it for sooooo long now or whatever. Regardless of who, what, where or why, people who think they're entitled will show their true nature in some form or another. This is no different. About EDIT #2 - you insult entire families just because people see through your fake nature? So when someone calls you out on the truth, destroying everything about them is the right thing to do I assume? "shame their parents"?? wow.... amazing how some people will attack without shame when they get the slightest bit of negative feedback. Shame on you. And about "EDIT #3" - where does "love of country" apply here? Just because people voice their opinions about your half genuine post, where does the argument about one's country come into play? Again, this is another grab for whatever attention you're trying to drum up just because you know deep down that you're insulted that "christmas noobs" can waltz in and buy the IB, when you had to work soooo hard to get yours soooo long ago. Guess what? If I run through the vault and the fireteam I get together with decides to snipe the oracles from the high perch, I'm all that more happy because I know it'll get knocked out right away & no one will run out of ammo. I can come up with other team scenarios, but the fact that I can have a team runnin with IB's is more appealing to me than anything. Plain and simple..... either be happy for people or hate them, but none of this in-between stuff where you throw ideas in everyone's face but try to sound like you're on their side. First weapon i made 2.0 the first Friday xur came after dlc drop. I also agree it is my go to weapon for everything. Yes some situations i will use a different exotic but 9 times out of 10 I'm going with my lovely icebreaker.

For example, the "he's in a tank" part of the Valus Tau'ruc strike - just sit back and snipe the engines from safety. Easy cheesy - no more back-and-forth with the gunship from behind the stone wall - takes forever). I wish I had Icebreaker long before this past weekend when I bought it from Xur. I've had Gjallarhorn for ages (2 actually), so not complaining, but Icebreaker is definitely a "must have!" Also, it's ammo regen makes it much "cheaper" to run than Gjallarhorn, which needs expensive heavy ammo synth.

Yeah one of my favourite weapons the IB. I have owned two for a long time as well. Bought a third off Xur this week so all three characters now have it. I am happy for my friends who now own at least one. Missions, strikes etc will be easier work lol. As for those tossers who complain when Xur sells something they own and they feel they have lost their exclusivity wake up, grow up.

I got icebreaker from my first nightfall, then it was sold with xur a week later for the first time. Still hurts.
