Bungie should not b responsible for people , friends, kids,dogs,cats,grandmas or anyone deleting their stuff. Now if its a bug or bad update then yes bungie should b obligated to restore the gear or characters.

Wrong. Bungie should 'help' its customers. What's the issue?

I'm not saying they should be held responsible all I'm saying as a programmer is that I know it's possible and really not that difficult to code a recovery option to recover characters whenever you feel like it.
