I keep seeing people who say that 3 of the same class is cheating and I can't wrap my head around their logic. How is that cheating? They have to get drops still and upgrade their armor like everyone else. Is it cheating for me to give my hunter items that dropped on my titan? I just don't understand their logic about why it's cheating.
Edit: most responses I've ever gotten. Glad to see most think like me and that it's fine. No adequate explanation for the cheating reason. No idea how people come up with that.

The people stating it's cheating are joking. If they are serious, I don't know what can be done to help them. They obviously have issues.....
-
4 RepliesIt's not cheating, but it's also not playing fairly. It's basically the equivalent of taking a shortcut while everyone's sticking to the path.
-
Leave it to many people on this forum, picking your nose is cheating!
-
1 Replyits not cheating.....its not unfair.....its not a shortcut they prefer that class....oh well how someone else plays the game does not affect how I play so it really doesnt matter
-
1 ReplyIt isn't. The character creation process explicitly lets you pick any character class three times. I'll tell you this, though -- every single person who takes offense wants to get to max level, too. They're attempting to vindicate their own shortcomings by discrediting the successes of others. It's the worst kind of selfishness.

It's not cheating. It's just a way to get gear faster.
-
to lay waste to their claim i have 2 titans and 1 hunter i also have exotic and legendaries that have dropped to kit out a warlock so all i need to do is level a warlock to 20 (which i will once my main is 32) . there is no difference in doing this or if i had a 3rd titan to pass gear to
-
It's not. Case closed.

5 RepliesIt's literally the only way to get to level 32 before the hard raid comes out of which you need to be to do the hard raid (might I just say.... As it won't let you unless you are a 32) unless you're extremely lucky on the first 3 weeks to get 3 pieces of gear and have a exotic and find enough shards to upgrade them.... My first two weeks I got no gear and only energy..... So far I'm just missing the boots...... As the helm is the hardest thing to get!

1 ReplyIt's being brought up more often now a days, but before it was only really mentioned to counter the people who say it's super easy to get gear, and how much more awesomer they are because they rolled 3 characters of the same class to get triple returns on drops/marks. Now people with 1 of each are finding themselves high enough level to do everything in the game on all characters so it seems unnecessary/silly to have 3 of the same class to those people. At least that's how I feel this topic had evolved.

Because most people feel that the game was meant to be as three classes, and that by not doing this you are cheating. Strangely many of these same people feel that should be allowed to cheese raid bosses, because they own the game and should be allowed to play how they want. Personally I cldobt care if someone uses 3 characters, cheeses or whatever. Until you can honestly say you have never cheesed, never picked up a suros, never fired a fusion rifle, never used vex on someone etc etc. You are cheating in someone's book. Everyone has something they want nerfed/removed or both. Play the game the way you want, and if someone hates on you for it, don't play with them.

It's not cheating here's a cookie.

5 RepliesIt's not cheating, just poor game design, they should have had all three classes be able to wear the same armor with different looks for each set (and any class-specific bonus on the gear would have other equivalent class-specific bonuses depending on which class was wearing them). My idea would allow everyone to benefit from the gear swapping advantage while also having more customization options and a broader range of looks for their characters, especially with any exotic being wearable on any class. The only alternatives would be to lock gear to the character who received it or to remove the ability to have multiples of the same class, neither of which are terribly appealing. The fact is though that people who make three of the same class do have an unfair advantage over people who don't, and that's not right. I have three Warlocks myself (I would only have one character if not for the weekly limitations on drops, but since there are such limitations I decided to make a pair of duplicates so I could get the most out of each week), so I have no beef here, but it's wrong that we should have an unfair advantage and Bungie should absolutely take steps to rectify that if at all reasonably possible (though preferably without taking away the ability to swap gear, I like swapping my gear and if anything should be changed it's that gear should stop being class specific).

6 RepliesAfter the horrible rng luck I had with the VOG , instead of being frustrated not getting anything for my fav character I decided to maximize my time spent playing . Work smarter not harder. They can call me a cheater but it's whatever I spent my money on this game and I'll play it however I feel.

2 RepliesIts not cheating. Its scrubbish
-
I have one of each class. Players that have multiple characters, whether they be different or the same, are simply maximizing the return on their time spent in Destiny. Anyone that tries to characterize this as cheating or throws around the same puerile, worn-out insults is simply too dense and immature to understand.

2 RepliesIt's not cheating cheesing or taking shortcuts people are just whiny bitches because they don't have time to do this
-
It's not cheating, it's strategy if anything.
-
Each to there own, play how u want I say

9 RepliesEveryone has the option to make 3 characters. It's not cheating.
-
Let those whiners talk, the are probably not old enough to play this game.

1 ReplyEdited by Osiris: 12/29/2014 4:15:56 PMI do not think its cheating, but i hate you if you get to 32 like that, than rub it in that you are 32, while other people are leveling with a method that takes longer, but they find more rewarding. play like you want. just dont try to brag if you accomplish something the easy way.
-
1 ReplyNo one strictly states that you are cheating in team we your thinking of just that you are cheating yourself of the experience of three players
-
It's not. ...it's very smart. Just boring I'd rather have 2 hunters and 1 warlock
-
1 ReplyPeople tend to look down upon it since that person has 3x more chances to get gear, while only needing 1 set of gear( and upgrade materials). 3* 3= 9, so you should( if this wasn't rng) finish in 1/9 of the time compared to someone if you both had equal drops. Also, and duplicates got to another character rather than being a waste These few facts are what make some people salty. The issue then is do you want to level up quicker, or have more diversity. I chose more diversity, but heavily weighed on making a second hunter.

It isn't. People will complain about anything that they consider to give an edge that they are not willing to do themselves. Play with 3 of 1 class, play with 1 of all 3 classes. Just play the game.
