Those of us who did it legit spent 7-10 hours on the raid the first time. We learned to communicate, practiced our timing and finally after hours of frustration took down Crota.
The reason people are frustrated against those that CHEAT not cheese is because they didn't have to put in the work in order to get the gear. They just cheat the game and get the same loot as those that put in the time. To top it off we then have to hear people come up with lame excuses on why cheating is OK.
That is why I care what other people do, because the time I put in should be worth something otherwise it cheapens the entire experience. I partially blame Bungie for letting it happen but mostly I am disappointed in the players.
Edit - I wish there was meta data attached to posts like age, income, gender, etc. It would be interesting to see how responses correlate.
Edit 2 - For those saying get a life, why do you care, why so serious. I say it is possible to care about something and not spend every waking moment thinking about it. It's not like I go to bed worrying about what other people do. It's just an interesting discussion topic with a wide variety of opinions. Using critical thinking and having a discussion on a topic that at the end of day doesn't really matter is about the same as watching videos of cats on reddit..... lol. Lots of way to waste time at work....
Edit 3 - Obviously this just a video game so exploiting isn't lawfully wrong. Morality is another issue. Of course it is also a matter of severity and damage caused. Again this is a video game so in many eyes there is a who cares attitude. I just choose to draw my line differently than other people. That wasn't my original argument but I feel like the journey should be worth something and want other people to have my same view. That is wrong and I shouldn't force my views on other people and really how can you do that on a forum but I would be willing to bet that most people are on forums to feel validated and have our beliefs confirmed. Obviously that blew up in my face. haha.
Thanks everyone for your inputs.

I cheese because I spent 7-10 hours. Not going through that again with Christmas noobs
-
Do you win a special prize for spending 10 hours trying to figure out the raid on day 1 or something
-
Basically you're saying anyone that goes on YouTube to see how the raid is beaten legit is also cheating. Cause they didn't put in 7-10 hours trying it out themselves. Get over yourself.
-
The only legitimate reason to care about cheating is the pvp cross over. If I have an unfair advantage against some fallen or hive, it doesn't matter to you at all. If I'm playing solitaire and I decide to cheat because it's how I feel I'll get the most enjoyment, it doesn't affect you at all, or cheapen your experience the next time you decide to play solitaire. Regular pvp should have operated on an entirely separate economy from pve. The only time there should have been cross over was in iron banner events, and then all the rewards from iron banner should only have translated into pve. No mess, no whining, no tears.

I can see why it would be frustrating when you put all that work in and someone else doesn't. If it's a glitch they'll fix it. Just remember it's a game and what someone else does shouldn't effect you. (By the way same argument my mom used when my brother picked on me). Me, myself could care less if someone finds and easier way to get something done. I still don't know what this glitch is and probably won't use but I'm not caring if someone else does. If it makes you feel better when the next expansion comes out all this raid gear will be obsolete anyway.

7 RepliesLast time I checked, Bungie never told us how we were suppose to beat the raid. Was there a manual that says you're not suppose to use lamps, or not use hunter invis? or not jump on any rocks to dodge thralls...? In the end, they're tactics that people found by doing it legit. If you found a easier way to do something, are you really going to keep doing it the hard way? If you want a challenge to self-actualize, go ahead buddy...do it legit, it's not that hard anyways. CE is probably the easiest raid of them all...people have solo'd it legitimately on all classes. Your gear isn't worth very much if 1 person can do the whole damn thing solo.

I am 99.99% sure the purpose of the raid is to complete it. That being said, since this is a game, the objective of the game is to beat it. However you decide you want to beat it is solely your choice. Whether doing it the hard way or the easy way. Obviously the hard way brings rewards not only in game but outside of the game. A sense of completion, a rewarding sense of accomplishment! Which ever way you choose is entirely up to the player(s) discretion. Sitting on the forums and whinning about "cheesing", "xurning items", all that really does is take away from what this game is all about. Who cares if you earned your exotic weapon or if you "xurned it". If you want to "cheese" Crota go right ahead. Technically it can be considered cheating but will never be acted against as it is part of the game and the way it was created. First time I beat Crota? I was overwhelmed with a great sense of accomplishment. We spent hours trying to beat him. Are you mad at the influx of people complaining on the forums about Xur selling the Suros? You know how you got your weapon and it makes you feel good that you earned it in game from a drop. The feeling that at any moment, a weapon like that could drop again. Its about the chase and the mystery of RNGesus. This is why we play Destiny.

1 ReplyI kinda feel cheated going thru a half a$$ raid just to shoot an oversized hallowed knight on his knees... I also feel cheated out of $20 for getting not much of an expansion and losing the value of doing the old raid... I really feel cheated grinding endless hours to reach lvl 30 just so I can buy 31 in a stupid store.... cheated
-
I did it legit the first two weeks. Cheesed him three times today. Felt good.
-
The way other people play or what gear other people have shouldn't concern you at all. It makes no difference to how you play your game. Try not to worry about what other people have or do and you'll be happier. This goes for regular life as well.
-
I did the raid right when it released, and beat it legit. And have so a couple times. I cheese the raid because I'm tired of spending all the time to do the raid and come out with the same damn outcome. Only shards on crota, and -blam!-ing gaunlets every time. I've gotten 4 pairs of gaunlets
-
Don't get me wrong... I'm not looking to cheat but how can you cheat ?
-
Eh if they patch it all will be equalized. If they don't ppl can keep feeling like the smartest person in the world for disconnecting their internet at the right time.

2 RepliesThink of it like this. Let say you are an employ and everyday you have to do this tedious and long task for hours and hours. But then a new employ comes and finds a quicker and more efficient way of doing it. Now are you gonna go bitch to your boss when he gets a promotion for finding this? No, you'll just be laughed at. Well same here, you keep talking about how you do it legit and I just laugh at you because you are only handicapping yourself.
-
1 ReplyYou know I used to think like you... Can't beat em, join em,
-
6 RepliesIll say this. Having done it legit twice and never cheesing crota i wouldn't quit a group that wanted to but i would never be the guy to suggest it. I also try to just go with the flow of the group as not to cause any unnecessary friction that would slow down the group
-
This is the mentality of gamers these days: It exists, so why not exploit it. just wait until bungie patches it. then we will try it legit
-
2 RepliesAge: 24 sex: male ethnicity: white weight :210 height: 6'0 income: 96k yearly status: Roughneck Beat legit, Cheesed as well :) nothing in this game besides the new Iron Banner is earned.. its all random drops every time. Shut up meg
-
2 RepliesShouldn't you be mad at people who follow guides to beat him legit as well then? They simply watch a video on what to do and how to do it, not having to frustrate on the mechanics of the game and figure things out themselves
-
I'm afraid you're in for a rude awakening. That's not how life works. One guy works 10 years to get to a certain position with a certain salary another guy gets hired right out of college for the same position for the same salary. One guy spends weeks painstakingly hand crafting a rocking chair. Another guy goes to pier one and drops a few hundred. In the end they both have a rocking chair. Hard work does not equal more external reward. Get used to it. If you require external recognition/reward to feel good about the effort you put into something then your problem is you. If you value hard work then hard work really is its own reward. Treat it as such. Besides this raid is really not hard just like VOG wasn't hard. You're really scraping the bottom of the achievement barrel complaining about this nonsense.

Edited by Queen Magikarp: 12/23/2014 3:00:18 PMWell I've yet to do the entire raid I have only done bits and pieces all them my friends wanted to cheese
-
Where do you think cheats come from? A total lack of mechanic exploration? Cheating is the whole reason we have half the things we do have. All cheating is is taking a task and simplifying it.
-
Cheesed the bridge and got the chest. Tomorrow after work it's Crotas turn. All I need is them boots!
-
Whilst I understand in part, your view is flawed. I've lost count of the times I've lost out because of bugs in Raids, VOG in particular. Add that to the random disconnects the Raid Team also deals with. Most Raiders have suffered. Until the Raids work as they should (bear in mind VOG bugs have STILL not been fixed), I don't blame people for cheesing. Their time and effort has been wasted enough and they've lost out on enough to warrant some payback. In addition, people really need to realise that whatever side you stand on, your getting upset over a virtual frikking gun or pair of gloves. Get a life :)
-
I spent 30 hours the first week in Crota ALONE. Well, how about all my friends? They try it a week after and cheese it on all three characters and get better loot then me.

It only impacts the value of your epeen. So long as you had fun, that's all that matters.
