I predict that VoG threads will continue in this forum for some time before the Desticles finally recede.

Yeah that's crazy, so was #gaming something else before Destiny came out??? Like was this a forum long before the app that caused it to get flooded by people not understanding???

Edited by car15: 11/14/2014 7:19:14 PMI don't entirely blame the Desticles. Bungie did a remarkably poor job of making it clear what each forum was designed to be used for. In fact, a lot of the Desticles are players who have little to no familiarity with Bungie who simply assumed that #gaming was intended for VoG threads because it was included as part of the Destiny app. The fact that it has taken Bungie this many weeks to turn things around and create a new sub-forum for VoG recruitment is baffling and inexcusable. But some of the blame also lies with those Desticles who chose to ignore the rules deliberately even after they became familiar with them. That shows an immense amount of disrespect for the existing community and the established order of things around here. And I'll be the first to acknowledge that we haven't been a very welcoming community for Desticles either. I think that's due to a combination of our general disappointment with the game and our frustration with the tidal wave of unwanted off-topic threads, but it doesn't excuse our elitism entirely. The very existence of the term "Desticle" is emblematic of our immaturity over the whole situation. There is blame on all sides here, but I think the majority of that blame lies with Bungie for failing to foster a community that would simultaneously groom the old community and encourage new players to join. For a company with such a strong historical focus on their player base, it doesn't feel like we're being valued very highly within their walls. It feels more like we're being used as product research subjects.

Totally agree, Destiny is like a beta, a little of everything. It's like they're building the foundation for something spectacular. It as the start of everything everyone loves but not enough to satisfy the in depth gamers. That's why i can't wait for Destiny two. It's shitty tho because it does feel as tho they're just using everyone as testers and NOT doing their duty to wow us with break thru gaming. I haven't been wowed since Skyrim.
