No, it really doesn't. As bad as the ending was in Mass Effect 3... it was still an ending, at least.
Oddly enough, they managed to have a compelling ending in Mass Effect, and Mass Effect 2, as well. Even though they knew they were going to create a trilogy of games, and there had to be continuation after the first, they still managed to have a great first installment in their series. They completed a story arc (fighting Saren), and they left it open for continuation (fighting the Reapers).
Bungie failed [i]miserably[/i] at this with Destiny.
