Yes!!! I know right lvl 20 is to low for a max level cap. Needs to be 40-60 at least per character.

Level cap is low for a reason. Bungie wanted your progression to be more horizontal rather than vertical. This meaning once you reach 20, focus on finding the best equipment out there that can make your Guardian unique rather than just saying you're a high level. If the level cap is what you're concerned about, there is an item that allows you to receive experience passed level 20.

Hold up a sec. I thought the level cap was 8. What's this talk about going to 20? And then an item that can make you go past it?

8 is the cap for alpha and beta. 20 is the cap in the full game. There is an item called Mote of Light that allows you to gain XP passed level 20.
