It'd be interesting to see them end the celibacy rules. Elders of the church, as described in the Bible, are required to be married and have kids so they can fully understand the relationship that God shares with the church, and the church with its followers, so it always seemed odd for priests to be celibate.

Edited by Progo: 7/13/2014 11:46:42 PMI think it has it's roots in Paul's statements about marriage being a potential distraction from following God. But of course Paul in this case also said he was speaking out of his own wisdom, not from divine inspiration.

He certainly did, it was good for the early church to have such constant contact with an elder, but it also means that we have conversational texts, which need to be read in whole, versus flinging singular verses down as the foundations of religious practice.
