Except that's not what he said... The gameplay of Spartan Ops has been discussed to death here, the OP is shifting peoples' attention to discussion of the story.

Edited by thefartassassin: 1/22/2014 12:47:31 AMHe also asks us to ignore Palmer, a huge problem with the story, I am pretty sure she is just there to be ignorant, bossy, and call people Egg-heads. She has no character progression within the campaign or spartan ops, and this wouldn't be a problem if she was a minor character, in spartan ops she is a major character. The spartan 4s, (whatever their names were) had very little character progression, I didn't feel for them when they in a bind or got injured, I just shrugged. The story of Halsey was interesting but why didn't they focus on that completely instead the story of the spartan 4s. They had gave people having two half assed stories, one that was interesting, the other was a bore fest, this in turn ruined the interesting bit with Halsey for me. rant over

Well, as Chronarch says, Halsey was the focus for the lore part of the narrative, and Majestic was the drive for the action part. Sure, there was very little character and emotive meat to it, but since when has Halo done that with its action, excepting the H4 Campaign and H3's ending? Okay, a lot of John and Cortana's more intense moments. But not much else.

I agree but I feel that Spartan 4s drowned out Halsey's progressive story, all in all I didn't enjoy spartan ops and I don't think I ever will, I think if they added it to the game instead of replacing firefight, I would be less bitter about it.
He also asks us to ignore Palmer
Um... no, he doesn't. He acknowledges that her presence in the story is a negative element, it's the go-to thing that everybody will talk about. Palmer is not the story.
The story of Halsey was interesting but why didn't they focus on that completely instead the story of the spartan 4s.
Because the Spartan-IVs are an important part of the story. If they made it so Spartan Ops completely focused on Halsey, you'd be complaining that the Spartan-IVs were just in the background doing nothing. Also, Halsey becomes the central focus of Episodes 3-10. Her appearance on the Infinity, examination of Infinity, contact with Jul, detainment, explaining her frustrations with the UNSC and their problems, overriding Roland and subsequent investigation of John, Jul and the Librarian, the Knights invading Infinity to get her, her contact with the Librarian and being told that she's been chosen to propel humanity on their path to the Mantle, her giving humanity one half of the Janus Key, and her cooperation with Jul at the end. She is what drives the narrative, the Spartan-IVs are around to deal with the ripples caused by events surrounding her.

Like I said before, the spartan 4s are what ruin the story for me, they have no character development, one character can't be the saving grace of any story
-
they have no character development
On the whole with regards to Majestic, I agree, with the exception of Thorne who does receive a good deal of character development.

I wish I could enjoy the story more than I did, I found Halsey's story compelling, other poor characters just seemed to ruin for me personally.
