This is the make or break question. Is it pre-built?

  • Prebuilt of course. I got a deal that made it worth the price. All of the components added up made it more expensive to part out.

  • But did you choose the components yourself?

  • Why would I do that?

  • Because you can get a better machine for less.

  • Prebuilts usually have unbalanced hardware. And the money he could have saved building it himself, could have gone to more powerful components. And building a PC really isn't difficult in the first place.

  • They're easy to build...if you know what you're doing. Not only that, you need to understand each component you're purchasing/if they meet your needs. Then it comes down to whether the components CAN be put together within the same unit while fitting your budget. You'll then need to pick out software you'll need such as an OS, security program(s), external applications etc. From there you'll have to acquire (if not already) any external devices (like compatible monitor, speakers, keyboard/mouse) along with tools to place the components in their necessary places without damaging them. On top of all of this, you need to place the components in your chosen case (which hopefully fits it all correctly) together. For this, it's a demanding task since they might not be tech savvy or have the time to research how to go through all these steps to acquire a computer that fits their needs.

  •
Then it comes down to whether the components CAN be put together within the same unit while fitting your budget.
And that's what PCpartpicker is for.
(like compatible monitor, speakers, keyboard/mouse)
Use your TV? TVs have speakers. KB+M are dirt cheap.

  • It's a glorious tool, but remember, some people aren't tech literate and don't know such a wonderful thing exists. Also, perhaps someone would not use their TV. Maybe their TV is in a large room and would rather not constantly move a table in and out of the room to just use their PC (assuming the person doesn't want to use their keyboard/mouse on their lap on a couch.)

If you haven't got more than one TV in your house, then I feel sorry for you.

  •
Then we must enlighten them.
Revelations everywhere!
This is 2014. If you haven't got more than one TV in your house, then I feel sorry for you.
Ok lets say the person have multiple TVs (like one in the living room, one in the gaming room for kids, and one in the master bedroom). What if he/she doesn't want to move one of those existing TVs to the computer room since all TVs serve a purpose in the house?

  • What if he/she wants to let the PC have its own room since all the other rooms serve a purpose XD besides...you wouldn't use a PC in the living room/bedroom anyway. If you went to the gaming room the kids would be upset with you :P

  • I've seen used in an extension from the master bed room (dubbed the computer room) but never in the same room with the bed, dressers, mirror, adjacent bathroom, and no chairs/table for mouse and keyboard. I can see it being done to someone's personal bedroom, but typically a master bedroom setup never has one directly in it (plus assume the spouse is female...a happy wife is a happy life my friend. Remember that.)

  • I do, but I'd rather not use my TV for my PC, and all the other TVs are being used for other things.

  • Oh I know it can be fun. It's not fun, however, when you buy a bunch of parts for an expensive amount of cash and it doesn't work. Then you lost money down the drain, have to mail back various components to various sellers, and hell could have your credit go to shit. Some people are willing to pay more for a secured product. They know it'll work, it comes pre-built, and it fits what they need.

  • But you save money, and get better parts! It's all fun stuff while learning to become tech savvy!

Yes it is. I seen a 3 hour video on it and you have to spend months researching and collecting all of the parts and what if you fu.ck it up and you set yourself on fire whilst simultaneously electrocuting yourself to death? No thank you, sir. I think that prebuilt PCs are much better... Unless you are good at building your own...

  •
I don't know how much of a retard you have to be for something like this to even happen
And some people suffer from moderate functioning Down's Syndrome... Are you saying that they're not worthy of the PC gaming master race??
My first build took me and an hour
And a pre build takes 10 minutes to plug in the mouse and keyboard and monitor then stick the plug for the monitor and tower into the wall...
