No you can not. Until the update that disables the signal protection, this is what you need.

When will that update be, and will this be present on the X1?

No word was mentioned on the update. And no, this will not be a problem on the X1. You can just plug and play.

While this is a workaround, I think this solidifies my decision as of now on which system to get unless the update is soon. But since there's no word on it there's no point in waiting
