Article
The soon-to-no-longer-be republican congress has achieved the extraordinary: absolutely nothing. Ever since the republicans retook the house, nothing has been accomplished. That isn't an exaggeration either, the republicans have literally taken us no where since they took control. I mean I guess that isn't entirely fair; they've dropped our credit rating, shut the government down, and nearly hit a default. So yeah, I guess they have done something.
But you can't expect anything to be accomplished when the Tea Party hijacked the republican party. The Tea Party is more or less bat shit insane. And there's good reason to say that.
So to make this discussion fresher and not the same retossed crap we've been hearing ever since Bungie allowed political discussion, feel free to talk about the future of congress and where it might be in 2014, 2016, 2018, etc. as old senators and representatives are replaced with younger and more resonable legislators.

4 RepliesYour thread is literally the reason why people hate Congress. All they do is whine and blame each other for everything. It's not the Republicans or Democrats fault, it's the Republicans and Democrats faults.
-
3 RepliesIdk if you want an outside opinion, but from where I'm standing all your politicians look "bat shit insane". Scandals that would ruin a politicians career in most developed countries seem to only slightly deter US politicians. You're also very nationalistic for no apparent reason, and most of the election campaigns seem to just be politicians playing on this nationalism by proclaiming how American they are. I may be misinformed, but that's the impression I get.

the future of congress and where it might be in 2014, 2016, 2018
Hopefully non-existent; America's political system is such a broken monstrous mess that it should just be replaced entirely with something else like MMP.
-
I'm surprised it's that high
-
Well, no one can claim they didn't build it.

10 RepliesBoth have taken us nowhere Both dropped the credit rating Both shut the government down Both nearly hit a default Know what? I'm going to act childish like you are doing: How about you over-ego Democrats stop pointing fingers and take some blame for once? All you do is sit around and tax the hard working Americans and throw that money in the blender called welfare and ObamaCare. That video you posted should say "This Baby Bargains Like Demtards". Just leave us responsible and hard-working citizens alone and go screw over Detroit some more, k?

3 RepliesHopefully the GOP dies and America sees a progression towards genuine left-wing philosophies.
-
3 RepliesI won't be surprised when we re-elect them all like we usually do.
-
Is this a surprise to anyone? I mean I am a Republican and even I think the people in Congress right now are basically useless. Of course it could be because we have the worst president to date, but thats a post for another thread.

More goddamn finger pointing. Are you kidding me? Both parties need to be castrated of their seats, stop this mindless finger wagging and side blaming. THIS is why this country can't get shit done... More time is spent arguing like toddlers over 'who's fault it is' when both are a disgrace.
-
Replace them all with MAC's. Or Kenyan children.
-
36 RepliesFunny, if my rating was that low I'd be out of a job as they should be. Hopefully they just don't get replaced with identical democrats and people finally start realizing both parties are the same and both are dangerous.

4 RepliesEdited by cxkxr: 11/13/2013 4:35:32 AMThe last honest Congressman retired last year(Ron Paul). There are a couple good ones in there tho, who aren't slaves to special interests. And I literally mean a couple(2).

8 RepliesEdited by Yvonne: 11/13/2013 12:21:29 PM
The soon-to-be-no-longer republican congress
Oh, come on. They've been stuck trying to mop up everything the last Congress left behind, and all their good laws have been cock-blocked by the democratic senate. The media paints them as counter-productive idiots who are hurting the country—which is only true insofar as the shutdown—but there are things they've been trying to get done; they're simply ignored. A huge number of those surveyed are likely PO'd about Obamacare not working, which is a liberal law. That anger gets directed at Congress no matter what, since it's easiest for the masses to believe that they're the country's super-fixer-uppers.

4 RepliesI -blam!-ing hate all of congress. If the Republican Party doesn't begin to change immediately, their party won't have any influence at all. I personally can't stand them, but I still want to to have SOME power even if it's only to counter democrats. Hopefully, republicans will lose enough power to make them change to some more centrist views. Their centrist views will hopefully force democrats to shift their views to middle as well. I really just want some politicians that have some common sense, moderate views
But you can't expect anything to be accomplished in politics.
You could just as well shorten your whole thread to this one sentence.

4 RepliesSo the senate is going to flip as well?? They're part of that 9% rating aren't they? From the recent headlines the incompetent juggernaut that is obamacare is poised to go plowing through the ranks of incumbent democrats at a frightening rate. Maybe its better to accomplish nothing and have people think you're bad at governing, than to pass obamacare and remove all doubt. The rats are streaming off the S.S. Obamacare as we speak. - Der

4 RepliesWe need a revo--blam!-ing-lution. 9% approval rating, an unemployment rate above 14%, and more shit to hit the fan later.
-
Edited by Warrior DM: 11/13/2013 5:18:44 PMCongress' approval rating is always pretty low. I think it's been like that for years.
-
7 RepliesWhy am I not surprised you're blaming Republicans? I really, really hope Republicans take a majority in the Senate for 2014, if for nothing more than to watch you cry on the internet about how bad things are going to be.
-
1 ReplyI believe Congress' approval rating is somewhere between running your crotch into a sharp corner and being stuck in traffic with diarrhea.
-
1 ReplyThe sad part isn't that the approval rating is down to 9%. That sad part is that 9% of Americans approve.
-
Ever since the republicans retook the house, nothing has been accomplished.
Pretty much. Since 2010, there has been no significant and meaningful legislation to be signed into law. Three years of nothing. You go Republicans.

Congress, and American politics in general, is a bad joke.
