ODST.
Not only were the maps infinitely superior but you were completely bitch-slapped into working as a team, if you didn't then you wouldn't even get past the first set. Weapons, ammo and health were extremely limited so they had to be more conservatively used, and the lack of Armour Abilities or any kind of gameplay crutch meant that nobody would just be jetpacking around the map with an infinite ammo rocket launcher.
The experience just wasn't the same with Reach, no matter how much you changed the options. ODST's gameplay had a very distinct feel to it, like with Halo CE there were no useless weapons (the Spiker got a slight buff for range and melee damage so it made a good SMG replacement when that ran out of ammo), a greater emphasis on vehicle combat (who the fck doesn't love Choppers on Lost Platoon?) and it overall felt like more of a cooperative experience than Firefight in Reach ever did for me.
Reach for its customization and the Ai Elites. I really enjoyed Limited Firefight and Arcade was only bearable when using the Grenade Launcher while everyone else was farming with Fuel Rods.
Nothing funnier than stealing a killionaire with a ground bounce in the bonus round with all those fuel rods going off.
ODST actually felt like a fight for survival with limited resources and an overwhelming enemy force.
Reach was a creditfest with infinite ammo, tons of resources, and enemies that often retreated more than actually advanced like in ODST.
Reach's firefight was a massive step back, not to mention the maps were lackluster till Unearthed came along, Installation 04 was alright...
Don't really get why anyone would pick ODST. Just replicate the ODST Firefight in a custom Firefight match on Reach.
Unless of course people are talking about maps and not the actual gametype.
ODST. It pisses me off that whenever I want to play firefight on Reach everyone chooses arcadefight, which results in massive fuel rod spam and rocket launchers. Dammit, I want to play generator defense.
