Shit, now you've made me want to complete this game as well, i almost forgot.
F-Zero GX is still the (only) best High Speed Racer out there.

Never tried MotoGP? That is real. I haven't played the more recent ones, just the first one that came out on Xbox, and one more on the 360. But you take that game, put in on the most realistic settings possible, with rain. Use manual shifting. I doubt F-Zero holds up.

Speed and Technical. Might not be your cup of tea because of the technical portion of the game. IE. Having to have a good racing line to get in and out of corners properly. Because one thing is for sure. Of all racing games... MotoGP is the least forgiving when it comes to setting yourself up to hit the Apex of a turn, especially Chicanes. Not even Gran Turismo compares to the technicalities of hitting an Apex. Like, you know how your sewer pipe is familiar to your hand? That's about how much you'll need to get familiar with each track to even complete a race in anything other than last place.

You have obviously never played any of the Wipeout games on PSN. Some of the hardest racing games made.
