The plot twist was great in my opinion. It just loses so many points for being an Iron Man movie with barely any Iron Man, doing "he has to learn something about himself" for the third ****ing time, and having the final fight invalidate a chunk of the plot.
Neither Iron Man 3 nor Man of Steel are movies I'm particularly interested in watching again anytime soon again.

The plot twist was a behemoth of an eff you to the Mandarin fans eagerly anticipating a climactic fight between him and Stark. Instead what we got was something that should've been in a comedy. I was wondering if I was actually watching something like Tropic Thunder instead of a comic book movie. It was just so...jarring.

Some Chinese guy with a bunch of magical rings in the Marvel Cinematic Universe just wouldn't make a whole ton of sense.

They aren't magical, just really advanced technologically. I think they're alien IIRC. The MCU doesn't exactly adhere to realism anyway.
