The only reason we are giving a -blam!- now is because of an arbitrary line drawn in the sand to determine who is an adult and who isn't for legal purposes. Top it off with the fact that the parents of the younger child only filed charges once the other one turned 18 and they sound like raging mother-blam!-ing assholes to me. *Reads article* Mother-blam!-ing christ, they are raging mother-blam!-ing assholes. Jesus may have said let he who is free of sin cast the first stone but goddam those -blam!-s need to be slapped by a brick across the face.

3 years in your teenage years is different than 3 years in your mid-late 20s. It's arbitrary, but a line has to be drawn at some point to protect children. As a more extreme example, 7 years isn't a big deal once you get around 30s and 40s, but an 18 year old dating an 11 year old is obviously messed up. The "divide by two and add seven" is a decent rule of thumb.
