It doesn't matter what law anyone passes. Something people might not realize is, that it's hard to take guns away from people that, well have guns.

Except, there's absolutely no mentioning of taking guns away in the Executive Orders. So, the taking guns away is probably some NRA-class paranoia bullshit. That's how the media works: Use fear, get listeners.
-
Who said that it would happen anytime soon anyway? I don't see anything like banning guns until after Obama will have been long gone from office, as much as my two-cents may matter.
-
Things happen over a course of time. People who get paranoid about it and say things like "Obama will take my guns away!" probably think SWAT teams will bust down their doors and take it away from them. Things like that happen in movies and probably never happen in real life. The gun regulation thing will take place over time, definitely, such as politics work.

except for califrownia...police are corrupt enough to confiscate registered AWBs....

Edited by Frost: 2/21/2013 3:38:55 AMAnother reality is that guns aren't at all that hard to build either, and if you're making something that's illegal anyway, why you you put any restriction into what it's capable of? So you'll have the the stashes of buried guns and the homemade street-sweepers... Effective gun ban huh? Because people are totally going to turn in their guns in the first place.
Because people are totally going to turn in their guns in the first place.
If you offer them incentives they will. I recall reading over the past few months that the LAPD (and possibly some other law-enforcement organisations) provided a buyback system where people could take their firearms and be given money or grocery coupons. They also netted a couple of rocket launchers.
-
Those Rocket Launchers were mil surp tubes and nothing more. You can buy them at a Mil Surp store. Though they still got considerably less then they are valued.
-
yep. single shot tubes that were almost worthless except for decorations are perfectly legal to own.
-
Edited by Frost: 2/21/2013 3:56:12 AM... rocket launchers... because the average person has those... even if they aren't functional.
Just saying, I doubt I'd turn those in. (At least not all of them...)
Rocket launchers aside, the incentives would have to be very high for a lot of people to even think about turning their guns in or registering them (if they are not registered, that is) because as long as people can't trust the man they're next to (or their leaders,) they will cling to what they can defend themselves with.
And these were just the people willing to turn over their guns in exchange for $100 gift cards (for handguns and long guns) or $200 gift cards (for rifles).
For this "reward?" I would maybe turn in a nerf gun...
