Since you added the part about the baby having a horrible life and growing up to be a criminal... no, I wouldn't. Why put myself, the child, or anyone he might one day wrong though that all that suffering for no reason? Assuming I had that information beforehand, somehow, which seems to be the intent of your adding that addendum...

I added that as an excuse for someone to back out of saving the child. And this information is based off inferrence and statistics, if that makes you feel better in the hypothetical situation. It's a baby, alone, in the house (bad parenting). Bad parents, tough childhood. And those with tough lives are more likely to become criminals (which, similarly in my original post, I used the word chance and [u]underlined[/u] it so it wouldn't be [u]ignored[/u].)
