I feel so boxed in. Wth. I have all these guns in my vault. Some have really good rolls, but from what I understand there is a 15% damage buff to new guns. Is that really true? Does new guns mean that particular season or anything with the blue tag? It's bad enough I don't even use a fusion anymore because of what they did with special ammo. Last time I tried using a fusion they gave me 1 shot. 1 friggin shot?! And with the overly stupid not swap BS you're trapped the entire game with basically 1 gun! So I use the same stuff (2 primaries) over and over again. BOXED IN. Also the armor. Does a COMPLETE SET of 4 of the same actually give you 15% damage resistance compared to 2 from one set and 2 from another? And do they have to be the armor they are giving out at the time? I'm running with disasters because I use auto, sidearms and scouts so they make sense for me UNLESS they aren't considered new enough and I'm no longer getting 15% damage resistance. I am strictly questioning all of it in PVP.

As of Update 9.5.0 which went live December 2nd, the inherent bonuses for using New Gear were reduced from the values initially set with the launch of Edge of Fate:
Artifact New Gear Bonus • Bonus weapon damage for New Gear weapons is now 5%. • Bonus incoming damage reduction for equipping New Gear armor goes up to 10% (2% per equipped piece). • All Exotics count as New Gear • The featured Exotics sections in collections have been removed as it is now redundant.
https://www.bungie.net/7/en/News/Article/destiny_update_9_5_0 The Bonus Weapon Damage afforded by using a “New Weapon” only applies to that weapon specifically; it is not a cumulative bonus shared across your entire loadout.
Does new guns mean that particular season or anything with the blue tag?
While the New Gear bonuses were originally intended to only apply to the current Season, the devs changed course after player feedback; these bonuses now apply to all gear with the blue tag, which is intended to last for the duration of the current content year.
Also the armor. Does a COMPLETE SET of 4 of the same actually give you 15% damage resistance compared to 2 from one set and 2 from another?
Unlike the Weapon Damage Bonus mentioned above, the Damage Resist value granted by New Armor is cumulative (+2% per item to a maximum of 10%). That said, this value is based solely upon the number of blue tag armor pieces currently equipped; Set Bonuses are an entirely separate mechanic which are not factored into determining the DR value granted by New Gear.
