it is getting quite ridiculous the amount of time you are giving average players to complete activities in portal activities and conquests, for example derealize is only 20mins after that you lose all revives, and it is like this in all activities, it is killing all fun i had playing this game, making me feel i have to speedrun everything or get nothing as a reward. instead of what feels like punishing anyone who plays your game with ridiculous timers if you are not speedrunning, give generous timers and for those who enjoy rushing through everything without enjoying the set design or layout give them an emblem or title for rushing through everything while us average players can enjoy playing without feeling rushed all the time on everything. and when it comes to modifiers selection give us every modifier to choose from instead of what you think we should have on a week to week basis, let us in fact play our way instead of the way you think we should play which frankly is getting tiring

The timers in Destiny have always been toxic and pointless! Besides making the game frustrating for a huge portion of the community... I've never personally liked them. The fact that you run out of lives after a timer is somewhat tolerable... but the back orbit if you haven't finished the activity is really boring.

I have no problem with a (stupid) timer being attached to an additional loot drop. Getting sent to orbit over a timer is a GAME KILLER!

3 RepliesEdited by DeusFurious: 12/12/2025 6:58:54 PMI will simplify it. Any timer, in any game - big fail of developer's.

I think they should give emblems for using punctuation.

5 RepliesEdited by Shatterday: 12/14/2025 12:24:51 PMWhy should the average and below average be able to easily complete the Ultimate test? How would that be the... Ultimate test? This is a genuine question I'm asking. Please help me understand why the Ultimate difficulty in a video game* should be easily completed by the average and below average player?

2 RepliesThey are comically short. Thanks to streamers who constantly complain that the game is too easy.

Timers =artificial difficult 5 second Timer to take a shower makes it a challenge
-
1 ReplyAgree. There should be no timers for anything, allowing people like me to participate and complete all content, even if we suck and take forever. BUT there should be special rewards/commendations/shaders, etc. for those that are able to beat those encounters very quickly.

35 RepliesEdited by John Destiny: 12/11/2025 10:23:40 PMwhy should bungie cater to bad players? If you can't handle the activity why should you get the loot from it exclusive loot for high difficulty content is standard for any mmo or rpg game. lmao all the bottom 20% players are crawling out of the woodwork to whine about how unfair it is bungie doesn't cater to them, and focuses on the average, or above average players
-
15 RepliesI agree. Neither the timers or limited revives add anything of value to the game. Its as you say, it only complicates things for players on the lower band, pisses them off, and they probably just decide its not worth the trouble and stop playing... something neither Bungie or the game needs.

1 ReplyYeah it is kind of weird, it's like they don't listen to their player base, and if they do they don't care. There are sometimes when people say things obviously that are ridiculous but this isn't one of them, there should be a setting as far as the modifiers go that gives you a level that has a timer and all this other stuff that people really want to get a challenge can do. But then like the base one or the second one possibly should just be ones with no time but still have enemy modifiers
-
honestly can't think of a single reason to do anything in this game with modifiers that annoy me having all of my time wasted on something because the time or revives ran out is not a 'thrill', it is just disgust that the game is ready to waste my time - I've got tons of games competing for my time. Destiny acts like the game wasn't massively more successful before these crap systems. The only reason to add 'fail' triggers like revives and time limits is to waste player time in a drive for more metrics, hoping players generate more /timeplayed instead of just burning out. it's just live service number crunchers manipulating the consumer blob to get more metrics because those metrics mean more cash shop buys. when you're starved for dopamine from the game, the cash shop becomes the big dopamine hit live service monetization is an ugly thing when it is declining, they basically cannibalize the game quality and experience to push metrics for bonuses

Timers just ain’t fun at all. Makes it feel rushed and chaotic. Limited revives is enough don’t need a timer on top of it

Edited by Tactical_Hobbit: 12/12/2025 3:44:16 PMlast season i purposely stayed below 500 lvl just so i could continue to play on gm difficulty. it was great i solo'd everything and i had a great time. now i am 550 lvl and with the timers taking away revives on ultimate the game is boarderline unplayable. an insult to injury all quickplay or matchmade activities always have counterfiet, haste, glass cannon, volitile shields as modifiers. very anti-fun/annoying. it would be fine if i could reduce difficulty to gm again but only get tier 4 gear from it. but right now you need every negative modifier on to make a B score on gm, way too much effort for getting bonus drops.
-
Didn't they have an update not too long ago about NOT removing the revives gained when the timer runs out and you're just not able to add any more to it. Or was that only to very minor selected activities?

The game always notify me when a “below average player “ post appears…. The game knows 🤫

I agree. Bungie seem determined to push a lot of players away. I’d have thought the low population would encourage them to reduce some of the unnecessarily punitive things like timers, limited revives, overly stingy rng, but if anything they just double down on it. If I play D2 these days then all I do is run patrol for a while to unlock a couple of tier 5 armour pieces from Zavala along with a tier 5 weapon next week. -
You can thank all the streamers for that.

1 ReplyIt’s a confusing system that Bungie has created that ultimately feels like they are trying to kill the Destiny franchise instead of attempting to save their only current source of income. It’s a backwards system that never fully rewards players for time spent but punishes for moving forward. A player that doesn’t consider themselves competitively invested, by nature of power levels, is pushed into skill gaps automatically. To play at a level they are comfortable they then have to receive less rewarding loot. This causes a pause in an invested player and is likely to drive the player away. We know the player base is continually dwindling and it’s not outside of reason to believe that the game itself is killing its own player base. Being “hardcore” is not driving players into the game either. Bungie is blind to its own sweetspot of difficulty and retention. There will always be games where “difficulty” is meaningless to the skills of a player. A thriving game needs player retention and sometimes that means the hardcore are not challenged because their numbers will never overwhelm a player base where the average player is the target audience for experience. Destiny will never be Tarkoff, and trying to force it this late into its life cycle is self assassination. The game lives on having fun replay-able activities not -blam!- of difficulty.

4 RepliesI want to see a stream with Tyson Green and some of his developers who made these decisions run these activities. It would be hilarious.

12 RepliesI don’t like timers on anything, unless it’s me getting out of planet Zebes after defeating Mother Brain. Easy fix: have the timer count up instead of down. Make it within a certain time frame: get better rewards. Struggling? Bad teammates? Can’t figure out a puzzle? You keep your revives and get locked outta “top tier rewards.” That promotes replayability, and actually being able to finish the encounter.
-
14 RepliesI was thinking about Derealize when I saw this post. Didn’t Bungie removed the timers wiping revives in EoF? Especially starting Master difficulty, which is average difficulty now in the new system. Sometimes it really feel like they do a step forward then two steps back. Derealize in particular, the second arena where you have to empower the blight is a time sink with all the champs. It’s doable if everyone knows what to do, but as soon as you have at least one guy killing all the ads instead of charging the blight stuff, it takes forever.
-
I agree they can be short. But at the end of last elseason the timer didn't do anything. You could still keep dying and reviving. I think it only mattered for the Ultimate ones because they had pressure cooker.
-
To make matters worse, there seems to have been a change to Pinnacle ops revives; before If I had lives left I could revive and continue, now there are darkness zones, so have to restart from checkpoint if die. This was on Kell pinnacle, not sure if others are same or if this was a ‘fix’ to prevent respawning outside of activity area.
-
Normal content shouldn’t have timers or rez tokens. Keep those in more challenging content with increased rewards/higher % of activity focused drops.
