To put it in simple terms until Bungie actually does something about cheaters in the game especially PvP that part of the game will not survive going forward.
They “Bungie” refuse to do anything except sue cheating creators but don’t actively go after cheaters especially since there is probably only one or two pour souls who are actively looking for them.
Battle Eye was a joke to begin with and actually did nothing but give a false sense of security to the players which is what it was intended to do. But now with the game being so saturated with mod pack users on console and PC being saturated with code cheaters it’s becoming a lost cause.
So Bungie/Sony what are you going to do to actually save that part of your game? Bungie never really tried under Pete because it padded the numbers but since he’s gone with a nice big payout what are going to do?

1 ReplyOP: Bump! Step 1: switch from P2P to those unused DRSs over at Marathon. Step 2: apply best available anti-cheat equipment asap…and take no prisoners. Step 3: separate lobbies for console and PC. That would do it! ✅✅✅ IMHO: Destiny’s PvP is as important as PvE…and its movement and shooting are unique across the world of gaming. 🫤 These days, one almost hopes there is a hidden dark operative (or three) within the team - to counter those that are most likely present on the other team. How sad is that?! 🤔 SUS players are in abundance. Blatant cheaters - not so sure?! But, due to P2P - it’s easy to point the finger, rightly or wrongly?! 🫵 Also, when my guns fire popcorn and do virtually zero damage at even point blank range, yet the same model of gun maps me within 1-to-2 rounds at an incredibly high fire rate (unlike my standard version), around corners or through walls and rocks, something ain’t right?! 🧐 That is all. Play Fair! Play Nice! Don’t Quit / CHEAT.👈 Ease Springs! 🙄

1 ReplyIt won't survive, because people will come play and experience all the bulls**t happening. They will try a couple of times and then give up. Only the Donkeys and cheaters will stay.

2 RepliesPvP is on its last legs I’m just playing till the wheels fall off . It’s getting rare now to get one good game . It’s a shame because Bungie could have kept it going by changing up and add new weapons to chase .

There’s this guy on X, well known cheater on PC (faced him a couple of times) who is apparently purposefully cheating to see who bans him first, Bungie or twitch (yes he streams himself cheating) So far according to the cheater, twitch was up 2-0 on banning him first 💀😭

3 RepliesThere’s so many posts about this. Sometimes where there’s smoke there’s fire and other time it’s fog (insert your own analogy). I’ve never noticed a blatant cheat to be honest. Definitely seen lag and had some questionable moments but I don’t think it’s as bad as everyone says. I think there’s a lot more “mad cuz bad” than actual cheating occurring. I could be mistaken but I’ve yet to see it.

1 ReplyThis game has been dead for a few years now. I played this game a lot and was above average at pvp. D1 was an amazing game. D2 was pretty crap since the beginning. Good luck to those of you that stay.

There are probably a lot of hardware cheaters on console, but they are all beatable. Be thankful we don't have to deal with the true overlords of Destiny 2: PC hackers. But I do agree that Bungie should have addressed these issues a long time ago. Bungie should enforce their TOS, else what is the point in having rules at all?

9 RepliesI believe most "cheaters" are just better players. Veterans are 10 years plus invested in the game having had time to hone their skills and combine this with a smaller player population forcing wider skill bands into the same lobby. The perfect mix for "surprises". And then network comes on top. Having said that I am reporting some myself where I am just skeptical. Faced today a 5+ KDA guy and I had constant bullets flying around me even behind cover. And I couldn't see a player. Weird. Anyway. 99.9% beating me play better, no doubts.

3 RepliesThe thing I don't understand is I've never encountered a cheat user at least an obvious one anyway...so I don't see why everyone is so bent out of shape about it... And going after the cheat creators is more efficient than the individual cheater if you take down the creators of the cheats then that just saves everybody rather than just individually taking out one or two users .... People who usually use cheat software or hardware or whatever are just bored or lazy they're still wanting to play the game unlike other people so instead of targeting your customer base which is not a good thing business-wise you target the source of the problem and if you can show that these cheap creating setups are getting take down it'll provide benefits and other gaming ecosystems too but mostly I think people who complain about cheaters are just complaining that they're losing and don't want to admit it I got a buddy of mine who freaks out every time he goes on a losing streak that there's a cheater in the room but he's the only one having the problem

Edited by Polpadare: 10/27/2025 5:02:22 AMIf they could do anything about the cheaters they probably would have. There has always been cheaters since d1. The only differences now are there are fewer players, it is easier to cheat, and it is easier to get away with cheating. But I guess you could blame pete for that if you really wanted to because putting destiny on pc was a quick money grab that killed the game in the long run. So by that logic more money more car

I’ve never understood cheating in a video game, sport, or any kind of competition. Your word is your honor. If they can’t best someone, they’re only lying to themselves. I’m on console, so I haven’t really experienced many bad matches, aside from some lag here and there. But I’ve seen PC clips of rampant blatant cheaters. Why even bother? How is griefing others fun? Have a good one. I hope PVP survives. I genuinely do enjoy it.

My posts about cheaters are taken down asap they do not care and they will ban u and let the cheaters run free

Watching a popular streamer today, nearly 1/2 his matches are vs at least one blatant cheater, flying, big/small character, etc. One of his recent matches was vs 3 solo cheaters. It’s unplayable.

1 ReplyBecause they care more about console players

I don't think this studio is going to survive after years upon years of head--blam!- decisions.

3 RepliesIt's not just the cheaters and the lag, but the rewards also. Outside of trials you only get 1 completion reward per pvp activity. For anyone who wants to main pvp there is no way to focus your bonus drops into that playlist, you are competing with 3 other pve playlists so most of the time there are zero bonus drops on activities such as control. PVP is both unrewarding and frustrating.

2 RepliesI always thought that there wasn't enough separation between PvP and PvE. Things that would make PvE more fun would be nerfed or removed because they broke things on the PvP side. The effort required to balance all systems across all modes must be staggering and detrimental to both PvP and PvE. I think if each season limited the equipment to one upgradeable armor set per class and one upgradeable weapon set, it would be much easier to manage, not impact PvE, and draw more players in to collect the gear. That change would also inherently steer PvP gameplay back toward skills rather than loadouts, allowing the team to focus on bringing back sunset maps or creating new ones for each season.
