I can barely remember the last time I felt something when I got an exotic. I remember doing the forsaken campaign years back, I thought I just got an exotic to drop… man, I was excited to see what it was! and then it turned out to be a Trickster engram… I felt gutted, but that just shows how exciting and significant getting an exotic back then used to be. The rarity of it all made it *feel* significant, too.
Now I find myself deleting multiple exotic engrams in a row because it’s just inventory filler. Exotics don’t feel exotic anymore, they feel like a basic buff. Like a ‘minor’ subclass aspect, if you will. An aspect for an aspect.
Bungie, exotics really need to be re-thought. The whole idea of putting RNG into exotics makes it lose a part of its’ value, the assurance that you could use this gun/this armour piece without being hindered by the RNG of legendary pieces.

Exotics fill up your postmaster worse than blues used to That tells to you Bungie has lost sight of what the term Exotic means

Either we can have fun exotics and make the builds we want, or we can get only a handful and either not use them or play with stuff we may not enjoy. Why do people not understand this at this point.

It's a 8 year old game, even if exotics were as rare as d1 you so would still have them all and not care about getting dupes.
-
Oh just wait until the new update arrives, exotics will drop with reduced stats for an entire year. If you thought it was bad before, man were you wrong 🤣

No. Embrace the "looter" part of "looter shooter" and make loot rain from the sky. Stop advocating for an ever-lengthening treadmill just because you value the chase more than the finish line. Your gambling addiction dopamine hit needs to be reigned in. Go play a gacha game and stop further ruining Destiny. Like it or not, Exotics have become integral and required for any kind of buildcrafting. They aren't "playstyle differences" and haven't been for a long, long time. Come to grips with that or move on.

Ahh no terribke take

Exotics don’t feel exotic anymore, they feel like a basic buff.
Exotics having a yellow background in their thumbnail doesn't mean they're anything to be "excited" or "gutted" over. The Trickster being a prime example; i thought it was a good deprogramming move on bng's part to make them explosives. Not the first comment saying they don't "feel" exotic. Video games are supposed to be for entertainment. If you are having trouble enjoying them or attaching emotions to some imaginary pixels there's help available. (This wasn't a dig at you personally as there are many people who do it.)

2 RepliesThey need to tone down the drops on legendary and exotics tbh. Maybe I’m just in nostalgia mode but it felt so exciting getting a legendary and exotic drop back in D1 Now I do a public event and get like 2 legendaries in a row 😭

I remember in D1 opening a chest in The Cove and getting an exotic. Literally made my day. Now I know that it will be a repeat of what I already have and probably with worse stats.

3 RepliesEdited by ben: 7/6/2025 11:51:37 PMPeople complained about exotics being too rare and the game slowly lost the looter part of its identity to the point where everything is handed out Not that im complaining because i dont love the rng loot chase. but the meaning of an exotic now compared to d1...the game has changed directions significantly

6 RepliesThey need to tone down the drops and add more exotics to the engram pool. Destiny 1's exotics feel rare and exciting even after all these years.
-
1 ReplyI remembered getting an exotic in d1 and at the start of d2….was amazing ! Now I’m mass deleting exotic engrams …this is the only game I just mass delete everything . Even deleting resources to make way for more yeh same to move on with vendor like shaxx 🙄😂

5 RepliesI blame the state of the game and how it was designed because we literally can't have overpowering exotics period due to BUNGIE having to keep the game balanced flat across both modes and I find this method is actually hurting the game more across both modes then actually helping it especially now due to its long service. we all know this game shouldn't have gone on as long as it did and they actually did do a good job coming this far. Whenever they do decide to make as D3 their first priority is permanently separate both modes Pvp and PvE

Maybe they make Mythic weapons now. Which are like actually game breaking to a degree, but you can't use exotics at all, even on your armor slots.

2 Replies"Exotic drops have been reduced to make them feel exotic. Drop rate now is 0.1 chance" D2 community: WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS!!! NO ONE ASKED FOR THIS!!!
