Hey Bungie, DIM (Destiny Item Manager) actually makes Destiny 2 playable. Limiting API calls from 3rd party tools such as DIM would actually drive players away as it negatively impacts player experience. You are obviously trying promote Marathon by cannibalizing your other products to the extent of curtailing budget allocation to Destiny 2 servers. We all know that Marathon has a very low replayability value and would die before Destiny 2 does. Hope you re-assess your decisions and not drive Destiny 2 players away.

3 RepliesAny API related app has issues interacting now. Tracker sites fail to load, 80% of the time, but will after almost 10 attempts. It makes me not want to play the game if I cant manage my weapons and loadouts with DIM, or check my progress in activities with tracker sites. Marathon is going to flop (me and none of my friends have any interest in it, I actually dont know anyone who does), and the focus still needs to be on D2 to be their cash cow. Throttling servers to make space for Marathon, which is what I assume is being done, is a mistake. As I attempted to post this... it proves my point https://imgur.com/ZnLv8sB

API this and API that. Just play the game. Or don't.

I’m starting to think they pulled some destiny servers to use for marathon. Bungie is stubborn and will choose to die on this Marathon hill.

1 ReplyEdited by viiTactiiCZz: 5/7/2025 10:42:58 PMOne of the DIM devs asked over on the Github here about it. Every app is being impacted by throttling right now (including their own), they're "looking into it" but haven't said if it was caused by an intentional change or not. Timing wise it lined up with Marathon, it got worse around the 2/3rd roughly around the time they announced they were going to be doing stress testing on the 5th but likely started prepping Bungie.net for it earlier. Since the 6th then for me its lightened up on the Fonzie/500 internal server errors but they're still semi-common.

I’m so over it at this point. Just been putting all my extra weapons in the vault before I log off and just leave them in there since it doesn’t seem like it’s gonna be fixed anytime soon.

The throttling of DIM is getting really annoying when it takes 7 attempts to move a weapon between characters. Even getting authentication errors on logging into the forum so retries needed here too and even posting is a chore with the "Chill" alert. I've taken to copying the text of a post in advance as simply adding a reply and moving on is becoming a distant memory. You need to improve the service Bungie, honestly, not over-delivering is getting a bit out of hand now.

4 RepliesEdited by CookieNiki: 5/7/2025 5:48:57 PMAgreed. DIM is an invaluable tool when playing Destiny and now is next to unusable. No way I’ll keep playing this game without DIM working at full speed.

1 ReplyWithout these sites like DIM and D2armorpicker the game literally unplayable
-
10000% Agreed. Games on life support. Bad decisions
-
17 RepliesWeird how I’ve never needed to use that to equip my characters. Are y’all lazy or just incompetent?

I've used dim a handful of times. Its really not that big a deal. Hell most of the time you don't even need a fraction of all the gear you're putting on.
-
It's not just dim. All of destiny and bungie.net are being screwed over. Both d1 and d2 btw.
-
Where do you think those dedicated servers are coming from.
-
The apps being limited really makes one remember how messy and clunky the game is without 'em. Really wondering why they're choking the apps out. 😔

elitegtryin to work with whats left.. for now - old
I was certain (dont know why) that reset/update this Tuesday would smooth things out... but now its just all acting unreliably. I think its time we got an update on this. -
RIP Dim. Unable to pull weapons from alts/vault.

2 RepliesImagine when marathon releases OOF

Go do some research on why companies may rate limit or throttle their API usage. You may learn something...
-
I agree, I certainly would stop playing if this continues.
-
1 ReplyIts an API issue.

Bungie does love limiters 🫣
