Ah, Destiny. The game where “balance” is a myth, and tuning the meta feels like watching a hippo on a seesaw—wobbling wildly from one extreme to the other. Let’s talk about one of the biggest offenders: passive mapping.
Fast-firing weapons like scout rifles, pulse rifles, and auto rifles currently beam targets with laser-like precision, regardless of whether the user has built into stability. There’s no trade-off, no commitment—just point, shoot, and profit. This isn’t balance. It’s training wheels for gunfights.
In any other competitive shooter, high fire rate comes with high recoil. That’s how skill expression works: fast-shooting weapons should have recoil patterns that reward players who learn to control them. Instead, Destiny lets these weapons dominate without consequences, turning engagements into effortless spray-and-pray contests.
Bungie’s sandbox philosophy often leans toward “ease of use” rather than true balance. But real balance means making choices matter—forcing players to commit to stability if they want pinpoint accuracy, rather than handing it out for free. Implementing proper recoil mechanics would make tuning the game simpler and eliminate the constant meta rollercoaster.
And to the “ease of use” defenders clinging to their power fantasies: If you want zero skill expression, go watch John Wick while holding a controller. Mastery isn’t about making things easier—it’s about proving you can handle the challenge.
TL;DR: Recoil should exist. Fast-firing guns shouldn’t map people for free. Make stability a conscious investment. Bungie, it’s time to stop babysitting the sandbox.

Honestly, I wouldn't have much issue with them If people just didn't cling to the handcannons are broken argument constantly. The real reason some gunplay feels atrocious and we need a lot of aim assist is simple - Massive amounts of flinch on certain weapon types, be it auto rifles - Resilience being the flinch resistance stat, 2 classes can fully take advantage of it without sacrificing 2 important stats - Bloom, if they remove this, you can remove heavy AA. They introduced this to remove skill expression. It's been in halo, its been in any other shooter - remove massive flinch from fast firing weapons and you're kinda in the right direction of it being free

When HCs aren’t meta people cry.

6 RepliesSee that’s where you’re wrong - d2 is a party shooter not a competitive one. It’s like COD or Halo- not valorant - Any semblance of this games attempt to be competitive was gone the moment they launched pvp without a dedicated server

Eh I think the easier guns should just be less potent

Fast firing weapons like scout rifles?

Let's bring matchlock muskets into the game. That would fix the problem, wouldn't it?

1 ReplyThink we found the HC purist

4 RepliesMaybe go play any other competitive shooter?

I don't think the devs take crucible as serious as some people

Who cares about recoil, I’ll be killed by a bolt charge or through a wall half the time between, abilities, lag, cheat…
