Bungie, it’s been several years now and yall still have not changed how bosses fight in the game. Yea, yall have made some very slight improvements in terms of boss mobility and engagement, but they all STILL have major stomp mechanics that completely destroy any concept of close engagement fighting. Swords are nerfed to the ground. Glaives don’t stand a chance against most bosses. Good luck finding players who are skilled enough to use a shotgun against a boss. Point simply, stomp mechanics need dramatic changes at best.

The only stomp should be the minitour and prime evil minitour not every fat blam pow bang
-
Nerf snipers because they dont want you fighting far away Nerf Swords and Trench Barrell, and added stomp cause they don't want you fighting close What's next, nerf fusions and rockets cause they don't want you to do good damage anywhere , they want encounters to last has long has possible

the non ability to press melee attack is killingyou

5 RepliesGlaives will never be good for damage Shotguns are still used on certain bosses Stomp mechanics are not an issue (this is a gun game why you trying to tickle the bosses feet?)
-
You can’t just smooth brain it and run up with a sword on every boss.
it’s been several years now

Stomp Mechanics Killing the Game
Pick one.... The boss stomp has always been a deterrent of players trying to go all berserker mode on them. That's why you also have always had access to ranged weapons. I mean David didn't defeat Goliath by getting up in his face.

1 ReplyNot sure about the stomp mechanic but the area of splash damage is way to big
-
3 RepliesGot stomped in the boss room in the GM diddnt ya? Cause a wipe?
-
A melee cancels the knock back effect of the stomp mechanic. Not too complicated really.
-
The only boss that even is a hassle is Crota, you shouldn't be THAT close to a boss otherwise.
-
Fr. I’d love to use my one-two punch build, but it sucks that I literally can’t because every boss, even if they physically don’t have legs, stomps on the ground, putting me in crit and knocking me a thousand miles away unless I melee them back, just for them to stomp again. And don’t even get me started on the bosses who literally poop out magma when they stomp.

Edited by Coal: 1/12/2024 6:29:00 AMI’ve always thought this. If there’s high risk when getting close to a boss, then close range weapons need to be high reward. But we don’t have that right now. Swords hit like butter knives and shotguns like acrius shoot pillows. There are a couple close range builds that are viable, but they’re all on titan and/or require a well or bubble to simply stay alive.

1 ReplyOther than the damage being unavoidable, I do like how a relatively easily timed melee saves you from everything but a Phalanx shield.
-
2 RepliesIf every class had an air dash they could anticipate the stomp then jump and air dash to avoid flying off the map. Give every subclass an air move Bungie.
-
Stomp is okay but I would take away the knock back, now that is ridiculous, most of the time the stomp doesn't affect you that much but the damn knock back is stupid.

I get annoyed by the stomp mechanics as well, you just have to find ways to mitigate their effect... NOW, stomp mechanics that leave the ground burning are absolutely unnecessary.

2 RepliesI must be 1 of 8 that dont mind boss stomp
-
2 RepliesI hate it when you jump high over them and they stomp you off the map when you're twenty feet above them! Nobody at Bungle ever took a physics class.
-
I don’t mind em but they definitely could tone it down on a few bosses.
-
I especially love when they jump over to you, then kick you... Repeatedly. Do you want me to get away or is this one of your kinks?
-
I love how the community gave feedback for years on this issue just to have Bungie add a fire damage tick to most stomps in the game to further ensure death on hit. Lol

2 RepliesI think most have learned to adapt, a well timed melee will counter a stomp and prevent you from flying, as will a well timed sword swing. It's annoying when they have the giant fire pools on the stomp though, that can specifically get lost.
