Gun glitch/exploit cheating. To be clear

Differing opinions are what makes things great. Bungie was right to choose fun but prepared to keep it limited. Thoughts and beliefs that are shared amongst everyone in a group makes them ridgid and stale. Easy to break when debated or tested. A convergence of different ideas strengthens and informs the whole. You can't always please everyone, but you can try to find a synergistic state. And Destiny seems like a grand experiment in a synthesis of often competing ideas. I value and appreciate many of the opinions of the community, I just happen to be most vocal about the ones that I think are detrimental to this game I love. I don't personally see it as innocuous as Prometheus Lens weekend, but that's only my pedantic opinion. I'm glad many of the community had fun. Anyone that chose to partake. People made crazy silly clips of the "you had to be there" moment that could really only happen in Destiny. It is only a game and it's meant to be fun. Anyone that solo flawlessed a dungeon for an emblem or got that shader they wanted from the flawless raid probably experienced great relief. And anyone that cares to know will see they accomplished it on that day. People got to go flawless and shoot weapons of mass destruction at one another for a weekend. I think that's great for those that enjoyed it. Weekends like this in a live service game contributes to what makes Destiny, Destiny. It is fun for some and Bungie wants you to not be mad at their fallibility. They are, at the end of the day, humans behind the machine. And it probably was a lot of fun for a time. Even for the devs themselves to use. I'm sure the hackers and 3rd party device cheaters are having fun too. Did both groups (exploiters and cheaters) of people feel the impulse to give themselves an unfair advantage against a broken system and others not participant in the act? "Everyone's doing it and you won't be punished for it." It's fine. Bungie held true to their policy that has previously been well defined. And it's just a game at the end of the day. It is meant to be fun and it's the first time in some time I've heard some close friends really enjoy playing. I enjoy debating the ethics and how our beliefs shape our perception of nuance. Destiny is an exceptional game that is crafted by a very talented team and it's so massive we all appreciate different parts of it to varying degrees. Bungie made the right choice in the effort to satisfy all by letting everyone partake or take a break if it didn't appeal to them. It was only temporary and why ruin the fun. I only wrote this book because I don't want my previous statements to rebuke anyone's opinion who enjoyed whimsical, lighthearted fun. I'm not frustrated with y'all for enjoying the game even in a broken state. I don't like the mental gymnastics Bungie allowed through semantics and under the guise of it simply being "their bad". It was a viral thing that affected the game. Validating the impulse based on fun because it's an exploitable error on their part vs condemning cheaters who are surely having fun giving themselves an unfair advantage. It is a blurry line at best, in my opinion. We aren't Burning Atheon's toes. I'm just abrasive though. And the creators ultimately decide what they will. But as they said, "They are listening". I imagine many are tired of my sh*t, but the player base has an inherent responsibility to aid in the shaping of the persistent game with our input and feedback.

  • Since when does Bungo listen to anyone’s feedback other than Elysium? We despise the 1%. That’s why we will always go against what Elysium wants to do with Destiny. Beating a raid or thousand doesn’t entitle them to shape the narrative of this game because they feel it’s too easy. This exploit going viral is our big middle finger to them.
