Yea i had some "we are done with destiny 2" vibes from that showcase.
They didn't even try to make us believe Destiny 2 will keep going anymore. That "episode" change made it clear that they are done with proper content and will even more so dive into the zero effort content with disrespecting players time to the maximum.
Timegating, FOMO and drip feeding was a massive complaint. They doubled that with even more season pass levels to do and even more drip feeds with the monthly steps that are locked within the 3 month cycle.
Sad to see this franchise go down like that but atleast we know now. Every question in regards to "will Destiny 2 be done after FS" was answered with "we are still milking our loyal players after FS with absolute minimum effort content but yea, no more quality big DLC". And the people still working on D2 are a few talented senior devs teaching absolutely new to the game junior devs how game dev works.
All makes sense now. Bungie is treating D2 as a playground for junior devs to become actual devs. Bungie does know that we are paying them 100+ bucks a year as individuals and should expect some quality right? I guess not. We are paying for the training of inexperienced upcoming devs.
Was a good decision to stop maining this game almost 2 years ago. I hope more players realize that the game is done rather sooner than later and collectively stop investing a lot of time and money into this already sunken ship.

I love how now matter how many times bungie says "we're not done with the game after TFS, we're gonna keep going" people make these stupid posts like "wow bungie is ending destiny after TFS" They really can't be any more direct.

2 RepliesThe unfortunate, yet very real, problem is what isn't being said or addressed. With just about every company hopping on the bandwagon nowadays with pushing political correctness, it comes as no surprise that Bungie is doing much the same. Whether it's taking a much closer look at all the implications made throughout both Destiny games up to this point, the various statements and subtle hints dropped in the TWIDs/TWABs, as well as livestreamed statements made by individuals at Bungie, it ought to be clear by now that Bungie does not care who they offend nor who complains about their game. They have one goal in mind, and that is to push as much PC content as possible into their game. As a result, they have entirely missed the point of a videogame as a concept by light-years. I don't want to be plunged into a game that showcases -blam!- relationships, mocks God and introduces witchcraft and divination (such as the new "deck building" this season, a.k.a. tarot cards). What I want, and I'm sure the whole community wants, is a game with excellent replay value, unique ways to play the game, a diverse array of dope-looking armor that can be colored to look even more dope, an even wider array of weapons that function in a variety of ways (allowing for each player to craft their own personal play style versus playing a purposed "meta")... just to name a few. Whether at face value or by way of in-depth examination, Bungie stands on the belief that it hates religion, specifically Christianity, and mocks it in every way possible while also incorporating their personal ideologies and beliefs to be forced down every players' throats. Now, many may find this to be extreme, bigoted, hateful, discriminatory, phobic and so on, but I assure you it is nothing of the sort. I am merely standing up boldly within the community to alert everyone to what this company is actually doing right before our eyes. All things considered, I have already come up with my own ideas that, if done correctly and not tampered with by the PC culture and Leftist/"woke" community, could be the game that this community has wanted for years. For example, make a Destiny 3 - introduce a 4th character class, have a rich, immersive, post-FS world where there are still enemies of humanity and the Traveler. But, the real twist comes into play when you, the player, make critical decisions that directly impact your unique in-game experience that others may not experience. I could go on, but I digress. To reiterate my point, Bungie has lost all sense of virtues, morals and ethics when it comes to making a game a game, choosing to opt into modernism and progressivism instead. If you don't believe me, start from the very beginning of D1 and pay close attention to every detail of story development up to the current season that just dropped. You'll hate me for it, but you'll know that I'm right. Bungie, please don't go down this road any further than you already have. Turn back and come back into the realm of reason and truth. What you're doing as a company... it isn't worth it. I implore you to cease and desist this insanity and, unironically, come back into the light. This game desperately needs it.

4 Replies'We're done with season. We're doing episodes!" Episodes are just seasons that are 4 months long instead of seasons that are 3 months long. Paying the same if not more for less content.

I dunno, I think it looks kind of cool. I’m looking forward to it. 🤷♂️

1 ReplyDidn’t he say it was the end of the First saga?

3 RepliesI expect a Destiny 3 somewhere down the line.

I think you want it to be written off is what I believe.

Thanks Propaganda Pete. They literally spoke about setting up some of the foundation pieces for the next several years when talking about changes to the seasonal model.
-
The episodic change is a direct response to community feedback about the seasonal model needing updates… To be seen how good or bad it is, but that’s why it’s changing

3 RepliesEdited by The Hermit IX: 8/25/2023 6:26:18 PMDid we all watch the same showcase? Judging by this post and a handful of response, I think some of us would like to watch the bizarro version you guys watched. Didn’t Joe clearly state how invested they are with Destiny for years to come? Or were the majority of us sharing a group hallucination with that bit? You can’t be serious.

All good my guy...good thing we got Remnant 2, Starfield, Stalker 2 and other GOOD games either out or near. Bungie gonna be laying off some.....well i wont use developers as they are skilled....so i will use wannabes

1 ReplyI'm really can't imagine why you bother. I mean, I appreciate you informing us about what should have value in our lives. I guess I've been imagining the enjoyment I've experienced playing Destiny over the last two years. Silly me. And thanks for awakening me to the horrible financial pit I've mired myself in. If I was to quit paying for Destiny I could use the money to buy one more cheeseburger a month! I thought dropping all that cheddar was worth it to game hundreds of hours with my friends. Silly me. Oh hell. I'm done trying to be clever. People like you annoy me. What a strange and unhealthy flex it is to congratulate yourself on the forum of a game because you quit taking the game seriously two years ago. You certainly exhibit the hubris of Nero believing your opinions matter more than our own. If your intention is to feed the pathetic circle of negativity and woe that is the Bungie Hating Cult, then by all means do whatever it takes to feel good about yourself. But it's got to be a little baffling, even for you, to see the same names over and over again as they bash a game they boast about being too smart to play. It seems like a huge waste of their time. Borderline insanity to invest so much attention to something they hate. If you're trying to convince us - then no thanks. We disagree on a fundamental level about the value of the game. If you're trying to convince yourselves - then why not just declare the win, bask in your superiority, and move on to your next obsession.

Agreements: the FOMO part for sure. When I saw the episodic framework I had hoped these would be one drop that you could play through at your own pace and then put the game down until the next one - something I’d prefer at this point over the hamster wheel. Like you said, they’ve probably doubled down and gone the opposite way. My only hope is that season pass levels can be achieved even after the season/episode has finished. Disagreements: They indicated there would be lots of new annual content and that this will be for years - something I assumed wouldn’t be the case and we’d get a D3 after final shape. I hope they drop last gen consoles in order to improve the game

14 RepliesHaven't played in 4+ months. Honestly, it feels good. Less stress and feel a lot more free. Destiny 2 didn't feel like fun anymore and felt more like doing chores. Still, I take peeks to see how the Destiny 2 community is doing, so it looks like nothing has changed.

Well I paid for the year like most others have. I will play what I like of the game until that runs out . But they never fixed the ad density in there dungeons even when they admitted they new it was over cooked. Then they nerf the players, weapons and ability's to the point of taking the fun out of the sci fi power fantasy. And turned it into a slog grind . I really doubt they grasped the downside of hitting us so hard ,with nerf after nerf . Were gamer's ,we play and pay for the entertainment and enjoyment we get for are money. They took the money , and continue taking by nerf and hook and crook. I'm glad people still like this game what's left of them. But they took so much away it will be impossible for them to revert back and save it.

1 ReplyI have known since season of Haunted, that D2 isn't there priority anymore They are just barely keeping alive a fading cash cow, doing the bare minimum to keep it going untill they feel the time is right to abandon it like D1, and focus on Division 3 and Apex Destiny , and the Destiny Crush mobile game

3 RepliesEdited by Soul: 8/24/2023 7:54:43 AMI didn't mind it, to be honest. FS looks decent - so far anyway. I think it a little funny the collectors edition comes with a D1 tower. Kind of simultaneously a slap in the face to those that have wanted that space back all along and also a kind of admission on thier part that they have failed to do anything more iconic in D2, so here's something from D1 instead...

5 RepliesThey want you to migrate to marathon so they can continue the same stuff on a new game.
-
I mean, if you didn't already know that, you haven't been paying attention ... Bungie gave control of Destiny to the live team years ago ... the team in charge of seasonal events. You know, the meaningless and mind-numbingly repetitive stuff we get? That's what you can expect moving forward.

4 RepliesEdited by TheShadow: 8/24/2023 4:29:35 PM
"we are still milking our loyal players after FS with absolute minimum effort content but yea, no more quality big DLC".
This is why I haven't and won't spend my money on this game. If they don't want to put the effort into the game, what's the point of supporting a business that basically said, "We don't care, just give us your money"? My biggest issue with this business is that they don't do jack... until it affects their wallet, and even then it takes them years to make any changes that may kind of benefit the player base, but you find out later after you bought whatever DLC that there was some stupid catch. I stop playing games that are just run by businesses instead of developers which has become a huge problem in gaming becase most do all this talk about what they are doing, but their actions show otherwise. Take 343 for an example with "Halo" Infinite, and this business just recently pulled the same BS with Marathon trying to make things look good. 343 had the devs share what was to be expected with Halo Infinite prior to the game being released. What was said and what was offered when the game was released was total BS. They pulled what this business has been doing for years. "Pay now and will fix it later". No, do your damn job as we pay you to, and ill support you. Plain and simple. This half-backed BS doesn't fly anymore.

Was a good decision to stop maining this game almost 2 years ago. Game is a corpse. A walking dead. They are milking a corpse. They pull the plug and this thing will crumble like ash. Empty! Bwahahahahahaha!!! Welcome to hollowness!
