All save data is separate and under NO circumstances will Bungie merge accounts.
If Bungie did then it would be open to abuse like everything else Bungie has tried to do to help players.

yeah I get that but it'd just be dope to have all my old unobtainable stuff back lol

Then you have the option to use cross save to play using your XB save data but any data on your current account would become dormant.
