Can't believe Destiny doesn't have builds anymore

So Bungie just casually removed buildcrafting from the game. No more ability spamming either, the no fun police strikes again. These new sad excuses of a gear mods are laughably bad. We are drifting so far away from the space wizard power fantasy you might as well brand this as worse Call of duty which has servers that won't work. You also stated in the patch notes that "mods are generally cheaper" which is only half of the truth because all the bad ones are, but the even remotely good ones are more expensive now or just as pricy as before which even further negates all possible build crafting. Not to mention how the new mods are expensive and you must have one of them on each piece in order you to notice any difference. Then the mods don't have bonus stats or effects anymore either i.e. the +20 mobility or strength boost. Oh and gear charges suck. The way you treat players by constantly underestimate and berate them with these idiotic design choices is not doing any good to anyone. What's your endgame for this game? Is the goal to make it as boring and bland as possible? If you think you know what people like, just look at tomorrows player retention numbers.

    Firstly, Thanks for taking the time to read. I rarely get on here, despite over 15+ Years on this site, so I probably won't be back on here to read replies, but thought I'd post my thoughts. I fully expect downvotes anyways, because you're not allowed to have differing opinions from anyone on here. I've been experimenting quite a bit, and I honestly don't see what the hate on the new buildcrafting is about, [b]minus the disappearance of the +20 Stats from Radiant Light / Powerful Friends ruining some builds[/b]; I can't say I'm a fan of the Resilience nerf, and ALSO making the mod require +4 instead of +3. Also, can't say I'm a fan of Grenade Kickstart requiring charge now to use. It's a bit upsetting how much variety was taken away with the mod system; I know Bungie is trying to tone it down for newer players so they don't get confused (you have to admit, there was a LOT of Charged With Light / Well / Warmind Cell Mods that probably never got used), but taking away without replacing or simplifying is never good-- less content in general is usually never a good thing. Anyhow, my two cents: Mods: [u][b]Firstly, people need to understand that Armor Charge is ESSENTIALLY Charged with Light, and as long as you don't apply any mods that have a DECAY rate, then your armor charge will NOT disappear until a mod uses it; otherwise, it will go away over time, but that's the tradeoff for enhancement mods now like Surges; Try Siphon Mods + Time Dilation and you'll basically never run out of Armor Charge, even with Decay, in PvE.[/b][/u] Surge = Font of Might, but easier to activate now with Siphon Mods (Orbs galore). Scavenger Mods are across whole element types and are now more useful for multi-builds. Ammo Finder Mods are built across whole WEAPON types and FAR more useful for multi-builds. Reloader Mods are across either Kinetic / Weapon Element types, but cost basically the same energy amount (and even less now at times depending on the weapon before) Shield Break Charge requiring 4 energy is a [i][b]hot dog water change[/b].[/i] Lucent Blades requires less energy now, but requires multiple of the same mod to get the same effect as before, which takes up an extra mod slot. I would have rather kept it at 4 energy with it's old potency. Heavy'Special Ammo Scout is an amazing new mod for teamplay, and I can see it being extremely beneficial in Grandmaster Nightfalls. Artifice Armor is actually more useful now in my opinion; 4 pieces can give you just enough extra stats for some of those builds that are either a couple points off, or an extra +10-12 to one that might need it. ----------- Honestly, my builds (with more or less the same mods as before, with a couple changes) are actually more powerful than they were before the update-- just required a little tweaking. I suggest visiting the Harbors of Sorrow and test out some builds-- you'll be pleasantly surprised at the potency of some mod combinations. [u][b]Just my two cents[/b][/u]; to each their own though.

      • Tell me you haven’t bothered to study the new system without telling me you haven’t bothered to study the new system. With a couple of exceptions (notably Stasis Shards to Charged with Light) everything that you had is there to reconstruct your favorite builds. I’m happy that they simplified it from weapon type to damage type.

      • Don’t worry, Bungie will probably fundamentally hanged how everything works again in a year or two, reinventing how D2 works agains for the 5th or 6th time. I’ll spend like a week or two again each time they do trying to figure out the best build for my playstyle each time

      • I have armour charges. I play and play and nothing changes. I shoot whichever f**king gun has ammo and hope for the best. Armour charges remain. I change all mods to play Crucible. Every player in the game is Invis. It's -blam!-.

      • Builds aren't destroyed. In fact it literally has not changed the core concept of being charged with light at all. Wells are no longer a thing because they were replaced by the ionic trace equivalent across all classes. Those can be buffed for your character by the new fragments, if anything wells have been buffed, but how many you can get is debuffed. I have literally not started the second mission and i was able to easily understand the mod system and build a grenade spam build from scratch in less than a minute. Someone else said something to the effect of " you need YouTube to tell you how to build" and thats right on point for every single one of you guys hating on build crafting right now.

        • No, there is no easy builds. We have a lot more freedom now (ie power ammo finders rather than rocket or grenade launcher) than we did before. We have no need to save room for artifact mods anymore. Just because you can’t slap on 3 mods and an exotic to get an easy build doesn’t mean we don’t have builds. You actually have to put some thought into it now.

          • Season of Seraph I used a Behemoth build. I didn’t notice a single difference in play when doing Lightfall campaign. Lance freezes Tormenters so yeah I stuck with Stasis the entire time.

                • jabetsgi You make some valid points and I agree that eververse must be removed from this game but, Whether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let's get to taking out their command, one by one. Valus Ta'aurc. From what I can gather, he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank just outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold.

                    About me: F2P, Voidlock (main and only character), New Light (since 11 '22). My opinions (please note I said opinions lol): Intro mission - why the hell is strand too much energy for the Guardian to handle? Wasn't it [u]supposed[/u] to be another facet to the light the Traveler gave us? Or am I missing something? Also, not sure if I'd be a Strandlock or not, even tho the threadlings seemed to do what they said they'd do. Surf's up duuude... Was the vibe I got from Nimrod, uh, I mean Nimbus. An advanced civilization with a retro dialogue. Yeah, makes sense 😒 Reading about the storyline so far... makes me kinda glad I'm F2P. Buildcrafting - What. The. Actual. Fork. The main problem I have is the res nerf. I'm so used to acting like a Titanlock (do I need to explain?) that I keep forgetting I die a WhOlE lot easier than I used to. In Van Ops. No joke, I died 17 times in one Op lmao. The new Armor Charge, it's perks combined with 3 (yes 3) Time Dilation seem to give enough time to actually use them, since getting the armor charge requires orbs of light, which takes ad clearing to get enough charges started... Ugh. Cost reduction... Yay and Nay... Yay for the elemental mod, and nade mod cost reduction, but Nay for not having it for strength for melee. Oh... did I mention the increases to CD times? Yeah... They nerfed ability spam if ur not set up right. Not that I did that... cough cough. The simplification of the mods to be all inclusive of (for example) kinetic other than auto rifle/SMG/scout; void/solar weapon is a good thing overall. Easier builds, less mod swapping, etc imo. The Special and Heavy ammo mods are a good idea, plus using armor charge instead of super energy for finishers... Great idea with the lengthened cd's. So overall, re-learning build/mod setups... I like the new system. Is it better? Jury's still out, but as far as having 3 mod slots instead of 2 for the elemental/weapon buffs... Nice. Enemy numbers, health, boss (mini and otherwise) increases... Well, it added challenge, but it kinda forces you into a lane of 'only these weapons are effective' limiting you to less than ideal variety of arms to use. My Hard Light ar is still good to use for elemental shield matching, but it's in the energy slot where my good hand cannons are. Honestly, I never saved a HC for the kinetic slot because I only ever needed it for DoE, and someone else on the team always had one, so I never did. I'd just ad clear with my Sweet Business, and use whatever elemental pulse I needed in energy slot, and more often than not, Cry Mutiny for power. Now I'll have to grind for a good HC for kinetic so I can still use Hard Light in energy, and whatever I feel like slinging in the power slot. *If anyone knows of a good HC for kinetic that a F2P player can get... I'm all ears lol* Long opinion I know, but so far I'm enjoying having a few different maps to get killed on frequently in Van Ops, and learning where all the hidey spots are so I can cower in fear to regain health... *P.S.* I haven't even tried mods to generate the sharts (used to be elemental wells) yet... So I'll have to play with that some too. (And yes, I said sharts)

                        So far reading all these posts and posts yet to come. I was right and happy I decided not to buy it. If I play, and that is my choice. I'll stick to the new light system because it will save me the time/money and the headache.

                          • have you even explored making builds yet? Warlock dawn chorus with 1k and mini tool on the buffed dawnblade is amazing. Mix in solar weapon surge mods and its even better. Add in melee/grenade kickstart mods to provide better ability uptime. And that’s just scratching the surface. Not to mention firesprites now reducing cooldowns. I mixed in stacks on stacks along with the artifact perk that reduces the cost of solar mods. It’s really quite fun. Then I’ve been making a strand build and it’s incredibly powerful. Especially with a weapon that has detangling rounds(iirc that’s what it’s called). Maybe it’s a bit too soon to be making harsh judgements on buildcrafting. But hey feel free to trash on the game, you are certainly entitled to do so.

                          • Getting bored at home long it takes to get a dam ability... WITH ARC and STASIS Traces and Shards. These were my go two builds to spam abilities. Now . Sit back and shoot and wait. Oh and then you have to run into the fray just to go pick up an Orb of Light and then have to not die and try to use the charge is 10 seconds... Only to then have everyone dead and your sitting on charges just depleting. The timer needs to go.. abilities need to come back.. 100 Discipline has Solar grenade at 2:20 seconds.. without the Exotic.

                            • My Gyrfalcon's build is slightly different but I'm absolutley slaying this leg. campaign w it. Ability up time is good, damage is good . plenty of stacks and orbs . No complaints here yet
