What do you mean by only Well mods work?
Charged with light will still stack and apply normally to Darkness abilities (heavy handed, energy converter, etc) and warmind mods need you to use Warmind weapons.

I suppose I am speaking directly about other types of combat style mods, like charged with light mods for stasis (although I suppose they wouldn't be changed with light but rather charges with darkness?)

He means stasis element specifically. Like solar void and arc.

There are tho, there are stasis combat mods that help a lot depending on your build. Especially warlock near 0 uptime for your nade an just yeet turrets all day.
