Remade post for clarification.
Power Level shouldn't rely on RnG, game should see what slot you need and give appropriately it's that simple, no other AAA title where there is a level system, forces your levels to rise by pure luck.
Let's face it power level is this games equivelant of your characters level so having it tied to RnG is too harsh.
Pinnacle rewards should be that, something to be happy about, your level increases and you can focus on farming your god rolls, having 30 or so pinnacle weapons drop in a row, when your armour is low level, leaving your characters stuck below hard cap for the season shouldn't happen.
Also how are you meant to get the triumph for reaching power hard cap when the pieces you need won't drop.
*Edit: thanks for the comments keep em coming gaurdians, I'm seeing a few all saying the same thing, "you'll eventually get cap".
No not really, with the rng system we have now you're not garunteed to get one or the other, you could physically go an entire season and only receive pinnacle weapons, you are in no way garunteed to reach the seasons max gear level of 1570. It relies on luck which is why some gaurdians are 1570 already and some aren't.
If this is the case and were all supposed to just work on the artifact then why does gear power level exist at all?

This post means so even more now that you have a gaurdian rank attached to pinnacle cap, im sorry but if I play every day, get all my pinnacles every week and then finally in the very last week of the season I manage to reach cap then im only able to unlock rank 9 at the end of the season. This doesnt show a players skill or determination all it shows is how LUCKY a player can be. Im getting repeat pinnacles aswell, my hunter has just had 6 helmets all pinnacle cap when he needs a cloak and a primary weapon. So again Bungie: PINNACLE CAP SHOULDNT BE DETERMINED BY A RANDOM NUMBER GENERATOR.

Best part is when you get a pinnacle thats a lower level than the current piece of gear you've got on (wep/armor slot)

Edited by Smokeshow: 6/16/2022 2:44:22 AMomfg so much this. got SO many chest pieces to drop in a row (always at or UNDER its current lv), eating up all my pinnacles for weeks in a row, just completely kills any desire to keep playing knowing that all the work your putting in is literally for nothing.

2 RepliesEdited by SynK Deagle: 6/15/2022 4:29:35 PMBruh almost all mmos and games alike have rng, you reach the max level then you need to get your gear level up or item level. Mostly obtained from doing max level dungeons or raids or end game activities. Exactly like destiny. It’s how they kept people playing those games otherwise you’d get level 70 play the raid once and just stop. They keep you coming back to get that max item score/level and then having variations of harder and harder activities to earn even higher stat gear. I’m confused why everyone thinks this rng is only on destiny. I remember grinding raids in wow for that one weapon I need or that one shield cause I’m a tank. And it’s not guaranteed I’ll get it. It does have reading right make it slightly easier but like I said it’s not guaranteed. Didn’t realize I already put a reply in this post but oh well my point still stands.

22 RepliesThey should just get rid of power levels already
-
2 Repliesagreed. the drops should automatically choose the lowest slot or b. you choose the slot. RNG has no business in this aspect.
-
3 RepliesAre you doing all available pinnacles? I don't really have issues getting to pinnacle cap every season. I currently have my Titan and Warlock at pinnacle cap and my Hunter is at 1569 with only a couple of 1570 drops to go. I solo Vox, Preservation, and Sever every week on all 3 characters first then do strikes, nightfall, dungeon, and raids with my team. I even did some Iron Banner for a pinnacle and I hate playing crucible.

I can agree with this.
-
Power level is pointless and just leads to number inflation.

1 ReplyEdited by Demon_XXVII: 6/12/2022 5:35:34 PMIt’s been a while, but I’ve finally got planning & stock numbers For my shotgun & cloak store Duck & Cover 😄

7 RepliesUm actually that mechanic literally keeps D2 relevant.

11 RepliesIf you're doing pinnacles straight one after another you'll see very little results. You need to spread it out. Do a few pinnacles then stop and even out your gear before doing another. I may get disagreed with here but my current pace of levelling is for my own good. Do the pinnacle raid , then do stuff to even that level out at base. Then move to the next pinnacle. Rinse and repeat. RNG may play a part here and there. But you can mitigate duplicates if you even out your gear before doing the next pinny. It ain't perfect but given Bungies current focus...take this as a way to still have fun and not get screwed as much.
-
Since they are doubling down on focusing engrams, I think they should allow us to focus Pinnacle engrams for any piece of gear
-
2 RepliesI always said Destiny should go to a Diablo 3 Paragon System that you level up solely by XP and not tied to Gear.
-
RNG in this game is designed to hinder advancement - the number of duplicate drops and same level ones is statistically impossible. It just seems to work enough to keep you on the hamster wheel. Bungie doesn’t care .
-
We should just get Pinnacle Engrams with a focusing option for any piece of armor on the character or weapon slot.
-
1 ReplyFor me personally we should go back to a system like vanilla D1 was Level system for campaign missions Eg. Witch queen lvl 1-30 Playlist strikes. Crucible and Gambit up the light level (30-40) Nightfalls, Dungeons and Normal Raids (40-45) Grandmasters and Master Dungeons + Raids (45-50) The higher your level the easier the content will be to do and then we focus on improving the loot pools for each activity
-
I second that and AMEN PLEASE
-
I love having a 1564 helmet then having my next 5 drops, all helmets at the same level! Why would I want something higher in level for my 1560 cloak, that would be madness . Lol
-
13 RepliesPinnacle protection is a joke, I got 4 Pinnacles and 3 we're the exact same thing with the 4th being different but in the same slot.... absolute joke.
-
15 RepliesAgreed, it is far too common to have bad luck and make zero progress towards the pinnacle cap after completing several (or even all) available activities. Its a bad system that can easily leave you feeling like you wasted your time, and instead of playing for fun you are just doing chores to have access to the same activities season after season.
-
But how will they keep the illusion of content if you actually get what you’re playing for?
-
Power levels shouldn’t even be a thing. Either that, or they should have an actual impact on gameplay other than being something that decides what I can or can’t play, no matter my skill level.
-
Im a heavy weapon away from max power but its not that bad.
-
But I like getting a +2 pinnacle helmet and then getting 3 more +1 pinnacle helmets that are actually lower. We just laugh and laugh…..good times. Good times

2 RepliesAre you ready?... Wait for it... Here it goes!... Hamster Wheel gaming!!! 😂😂😂 You are not playing, you are running! 😂😂😂 Run guardians, RUN!!!
