PvP players do NOT like the Aerial Effectiveness change. Please make major changes to it or revert it.

A recent poll on r/CrucibleGuidebook, the PvP-focused Destiny 2 subreddit, shows that the majority of PvP players dislike the Aerial Effectiveness change, and either want major changes to be done or for it to be reverted entirely. The poll is here: https://www.reddit.com/r/CrucibleGuidebook/comments/v5d1i9/poll_how_do_you_feel_about_the_aerial/ Aztecross made a great video on his thoughts about what's wrong with this change and what could be done to make it better. Most people have probably seen it by now, but in case you haven't, here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=na2PRAzSbac To reiterate what was said in the video, here's ways that the Aerial Effectiveness change could be made way better: - Give all primaries perfect accuracy in the air, regardless of Aerial Effectiveness. - Have Aerial Effectiveness ONLY affect aim assist - at 0 Aerial Effectiveness, give zero aim assist midair, and at 100 Aerial Effectiveness, give the same aim assist as if you were grounded. - Create more ways to build into Aerial Effectiveness: - Create AE boot armor mods - Tie AE to the Mobility armor stat - Tie AE to the Handling weapon stat - Ideally, every class (not just Heat Rises warlocks) should be able to build to 100 AE in neutral game conditions (being wounded for Air Assault doesn't count as neutral game) If all of these changes are implemented, then the PvP community's opinion of this change will flip from negative to positive. An alternative would be to simply revert the change, but I'm assuming that's not an option.

    • "PvP players don't like the change"... Well, OF COURSE they don't! It was changed BECAUSE OF THEM! It was done to reduce the astronomical abuse of Icarus mods and jump shotties. At no Point a Weapon was meant to have HIGHER Accuracy in-air than on the ground.

      • PvP player here: I do not care about the airborne whatever changes as I'm not a player whom jumps around all the time. I'm more concerned with the lack of maps, the quality of the maps, but most of all, the absolutely horrible lobby balancing in their game. Also, the changes to Rift were weird and unnecessary. These are all more important than airborne shooting.

      • Airborne effectiveness is more effective than before, actually… if you build into it. Airborne fighting is now a build you have to spec for, not just “let’s slap an Icarus mod on and off we go” kinda thing. If you wanna fight in the air, make a build for it.

That hardly represents the "majority" when there were 472.11k people playing PvP today.

Why is this downvoted, it’s been tested by multiple people that your shots don’t even go where your reticle is aimed why should players be penalised for being accurate? The whole change to in air accuracy wasn’t needed and is just an overreaction to what should of just been a stompee nerf.

                • I probably have more kills than everyone who will comment put together 👍 it’s fine now the way it is, I had icirus on all my side arms and have nearly 46,000 pvp kills with them. After years of using side arms my fingers needed to chill so I picked up a smg, now when I jump I actually have to keep aiming instead of just repeated zooming while jumping… Only scrubs want this 💩 back the way it was

                  • A lot of stupid comments from the casual players on this post so let me just explain something. The AE changes are disliked because it makes the game FEEL bad. News flash for all the PVE / Casual players trash talking in the comments. This change is bad for YOU. This is another change that doesn’t affect any good player, the only thing it does it make the game feel bad for us and YOU to play. However it will affect YOU. The exact people applauding and trash talking in the comments. This change makes it WORSE for the casual player. Have you noticed how this season the PVP complaints are off the charts on the forums? I mean more so than they normally are. Reality check, the reason you guys are getting dumpstered on harder this season is because of the special ammo nerf and AE changes. My KD is so disgustingly skyrocketed right now. I’m FARMING lobbies like I never before have. It’s so easy when I don’t have to worry about people jumping over me or getting killed by special weapon fusion, shotgun, etc crutches. These two changes made it so actual good players can just destroy lobbies worse than they have previously. The ironic part is you guys don’t even understand that and somehow think these changes benefit you. AE feels horrible and hurts the casual player, so it’s a bad change. But hey, I guess the casual Destiny 2 community loves pain because they just keep advocating for more changes to help good players and hurt themselves. (Thanks for disjunction btw I’m sure all that complaint about map sized led to this masterpiece of a map)

                    • I'm neutral about it. They've made it so that if you spec into it, your AE will actually be BETTER than before the changes. It's just you can't get away with icarus grip+HC anymore and all the other class equivalents. This game moves so fast, it's already a hassle keeping up with the sandbox in the game. I've always been of the mind that gunfights in the air only has more risks than *potentially* killing the one or two guardians you got the drop on. But if they spot you first? Or if they react fast enough? Maybe that third guardian at the other end of the room with a ranged weapon? Nah, too many risks for me to ever invest into AE to begin with, especially considering for primary weapons (I run double primary most of the time) you have to spec a fair amount to get *similar* results from the previous sandbox when mods are already expensive and Air Assault is just a poorly made bandaid. I *do* think they've had some oversight though. With special ammo economy being nerfed and being more penalised in the air, players have been so much more passive in pvp. It's almost a whiplash going from apes or corner baiters to what I've been seeing popping up more and more. I'm all for more weapon variety though, glad for bow mains cropping up more and more people investing in sidearms and such, but you still see plenty of shotgun/fusion mains capable of going on streaks. Maybe not as fast as before, but definitely so much more passive and one ammo brick per kill is enough for an ape to ape. And those weapons are still deadly while grounded, even with AE involved. No more chaperone from across the map in the air though, I guess. I don't know, maybe the community should wait until Bungie offers more options for AE in future updates. As I've said, I'm neutral about it since I've always been a grounded player, but I can definitely see why a lot of players are annoyed with the change. Pvp wise, good players are still good players and will dominate accordingly, and those who were crutching now need to invest more and play smarter. I feel for the casual and new players though, this change will hurt them something fierce until they get a feel for it. I do find the entire thing hilarious though. This was their answer for solely stompeez and icarus grip, lol.

I'm in the "build into it" boat. I'm completely fine with there being give and take in the game, but the with the complete lack of armor mods and perks, extremely limited class perks, no weapon stat dependency (like stability and flinch resistance) and absolutely zero character stat dependency (again like resilience and flinch resistance), there is no "give" in this version of AE, unless you want to run like 1 of 5 niche builds. We need more buildcrafting options.

                        • I feel like any change that blanket nerfs everyone is lame. Everyone gets their in air capabilities butchered because... why exactly? I'm still not sure why. The movement in this game is very fluid and makes it fun to play, it's most of what makes PvP in this game unique, but we have now had twosandbox updates in a row that have discouraged movement; first sliding causes you to have less stability and receive more flinch, then jumping makes your gun completely unreliable in the air. The quickdraw glitch was admittedly pretty ridiculous and needed to be patched but it undeniably disproportionately benefited hand cannons and shotguns but EVERYONE had it taken away. It's no secret that these changes were targetted at hand cannons; they are so good because of their in air accuracy as well as how easy they make it to make use of the absurd peeker's advantage that you get when slide challenging. But why does every single weapon has to bite the bullet because of these changes? Auto rifles and pulses were already bad for slide challenging and now they are even worse. They were already bad in air and now they are even worse. Snipers with icarus grip used to be decent in the air, giving out mid air headshots left and right if you could aim, and now it feels basically impossible to use them except when standing still. Stuff like this is just dumb. Hand cannons are still the best weapons while in the air, they are still the best weapons for slide challenging, but now everything else is just even worse. It doesn't make any sense... the sandbox team needs to stop nerfing everybody because they are afraid of nerfing hand cannons directly which is very very clearly what is going on. Before you make assumptions about me and how I have my opinion because I crutch stompees etc, hunter is my least played class and I have always been a dragons shadow main when I play it, I have never been a fan of stompees. For the past couple months I have pretty much exclusively used exotic hand cannons which have always been boots on the ground guns because they don't have icarus, so Im used to not having icarus and not jumping through the air, this change did not ruin my playstyle or whatever you might think, my opinion is pretty unbiased

                          • Slide shotgun✅Jump shotgun❌ Feels like D1 at the end. They want us to crabwalk with ARs. It works. My only problem with it is any slight change in elevation counts as being airborne. don't strafe too much, or jump and it's fine🤦

I disagree. Sounds like you want to have the same perfect accuracy midair that you'd have on the ground by just slapping on a single mod without any thought (which was braindead from a physics PoV in-game and IRL). Inb4: "But this is a video game, you can't apply real world concepts". Then why would Bungie bother adding things like range falloff, accuracy, recoil/direction, velocity on projectiles, and the like? Every weapon/weapon type should just act outside of it's normal capabilities right? No. Because it has to make sense But I do agree that you should be able to make a build for it outside of B/C tier exotics and select aspects. At the very peak, if you invest fully, I think you should 75-80% accuracy mid-air. Not 100%.

                          • I don’t know why people are getting so upset and are polarized in this comment section, oh wait, yes I do, it’s the D2 forums. Here’s the thing, whether you have a million kills in crucible or not means nothing. Your shot should go where you aim, the end. Enough of this elitist mentality.
